"John McNab [John McNabb II, born 1768, #M32]
Tracings from Recollections of John McNabb [John McNabb III, born 1809, #M16] his son, now
79 years past, taken by John McNabb [John Morrison McNabb, born 1854] son of John McNabb
III, #M16.]" This document in its original handwriting, was in possession of
Mrs. Ethel Bumgarner. Several copies of it exist including one in possession of Frances
McNabb Gray. A typewritten copy, probably copied November 8, 1963, by Lyle Wagoner, is
also in possession of Frances. The document was based on memory. Some additions have been
made by others since John Morrison McNabb's death in 1919. It appears here in its original
spelling.

John1 McNab Tracings from Recolections of John2 McNabb, his son, now
seventy nine years old past, taken by J.3 McNabb March 1872.
1. John1 McNab [#M32] lived in Menstre, Scotland married Jane McKay
[McKay was crossed out]
Drysdale. John1 Died about (60 yrs old) 1819
Both [unintelligible word: looks like pfdsiserate] buried at
Tilliboddy, Church-Manning or Sterlingshire Scot. Jane1 died about May 1st
1809 (29 yrs old.)
2. Andrew1 McNab left for Australia unheard of. Brother of John1.
3. Margret1 [ditto marks meaning McNab] Sister [ditto marks
meaning of John1] Lived in Menstre. Was deaf:. Had her money stole: Never
married.
Chapter II
1 John1 (1) owned three houses, all in Menstre but sold two, the other
was left to his only son, John2. He visited very often a friend Mr.
Montieth in Menstre.
No recollection what he worked at except one day, worked at
breaking stone a mile away. Jane1 McKay [crossed out] Drysdale wife of John1 (1) died
about May 1st 1809. There was a family of five children

Morrison [#M17] b. Feb 10, 1811 died April 30, 1880 [these dates differ from actual
events]
7 Helen1 (2) (Masterton) (John1) She married Peter Masterton and raised
a small family She died at about 60 years of age.
8 Jane2 (4) (Anderson) (John1) married J Anderson: Lived in Scot.
and died near Camlon Scot leaving a family of five children. Age about 60.
9 2Robert. Married, Came to N.Y. and died there
10 8Peter married, came to N.Y. Still lives 1888.
11 5James married twice came to N.Y. still lives 1888.
12 6William married in N.Y. lives now died at Fairburg Aug 6 1899.
13 10Annie married (Stark) resides at Camlon Scot.

14 John2 [#M16] (6) (John1) Born in Menstre Scot. Feb 3rd 1809. Mother died when
he was 5 or 6 years mos. old and his father, when 10 years old. When 19
years old Started for S. America but landed in N.Y city with only a dollar
left.
Worked in N.Y. in the canal; afterwards in Pa. Lancaster Co. From
there joined the army under Gen. Winfield Scott against the Seminoles in
Fa. where he was wounded in right wrist after which he rec'd a pension.
Left Army 1838. Went back to Pa. then to O. near Dayton. Same year 1838.
Married Margret Morrison [#M17] there about 1842 Sept. 22d 1842. Came to Magnolia
Putnum Co Ill in 1845 or 6. Oct 14 1892. There were a family of seven
children by them
15 John Morrison b June 27 1843 Died about six years old.
16 Daniel;[#M8] Born Feb 5th 1845; married Mary F. George [#M9]
17 Jane: b. Dec. 25th 1846 Married J.C. Kizer and Cotting
18 Orcilla: b. Nov 7th 1849.
19 Robert Drysdale: b. Dec 27 1851 d. 6 April 1890.
20 John Morrison: b. Jan 18th 1854 Buried in F. Cemetery. Died July 8 1919.
21 James Archabald; b. Feb 22nd 1856 married Nettie Laughlin.

14 John2 (6) (John1) continued
John Gentleman, John Galloway and John * Archabald were gardians
of John2 (14) and all lived in Menstre.
Gentleman owned 3 houses: Above and towards the hill
Archabald had 3 children: John who had crooked feet. Andrew or the
other one came to U.S.
John2 (14) [#M16] was furnished meal by Mrs. Archabald and also
furnished
some work and Mr Gentleman furnished some clothing.
He visited at a cousin, daughter of his uncle Andrew McNab -who
married David Forthyse and lived in Stirling Scot. and wove carpets
A cousin John, son of Andrew, bro. of John1 (1) was on the Brittish
Pensions rolls.
*James Archibald nephew of William Archibald, old neighbors at at
Menstrie, moved to Rockford, Ill. See Old Letter: Wm. Harrower West Troy,
