SUMMER

OCEAN WAVES
Finished size: approx. 49 inches x 65 inches
Materials: Worsted-weight yarn,approx. 47 ounces Periwinkle blue.
Crochet Hook size P (10.00mm) or size needed for gauge.
Gauge: One shell= 2 inches and 4 rows= 3-1/2 inches.
Note: Entire afghan is worked holding two strands of yarn together.
Note: To work Shell, (sc, ch 3, 4 dc) in stitch indicated.

DIRECTIONS
Chain 94 loosely.
Row 1:(Right side): Work shell in second ch from hook, (skip next 3 chs, work shell in next ch) across to last 4 chs, skip next 3 chs, sc in last ch: 23 shells.
Note: Loop a short piece of yarn around any stitch to mark last row as Right side.
Row 2: Ch 6 (counts as first dc plus ch 3), turn; skip next 4 dc, sc in next ch,* ch 3, skip next 4 dc, sc in next ch; repeat from * across: 23 sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn; work shell in first sc and in each sc across to last dc, sc in last dc: 23 shells.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until afghan measures approximately 63 inches from beginning chain, ending by working row 2; Do Not finish off.
EDGING
Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn; 3 sc in first sc, work 90 sc evenly spaced across to last dc, 3 sc in last dc;work 138 sc evenly spaced across end of rows; working in free loops of beginning chain, 3 sc in first ch, work 90 sc evenly spaced across to next corner ch, 3 sc in corner ch; work 138 sc evenly spaced across end of rows; join with slip st to first sc: 468 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, do not turn; sc in same st, ch 3,* skip next sc, sc in next 2 sc, ch 3: repeat from * around to last 2 sc, skip next sc, sc in last sc; join with slip st to first sc, finish off.

FALL

POPCORN STYLE AFGHAN
Finished size: approximately 47 inches x 70 inches
Materials: Worsted-weight acrylic. Caron(Tm)Dazzle Aire(Tm), 3-ounce skeins, 15 skeins of peach or your color choice.
Crochet Hook size G
Gauge: 7 stitches = 1 inch

DIRECTIONS
Note: Each row must have exactly 143 stitches including ch 1 or ch 3, which count as the first st of each row. Each completed popcorn stitch counts as one stitch.
All right-side rows are dc and popcorn stitch; all wrong-side rows are sc.

Popcorn st: Work 5 dc in same st, draw up a long lp in last st and drop lp from hook, insert hook in first dc of 5-dc group, pick up dropped lp, draw through and tighten (1 popcorn st completed).

SNOWFLAKE AFGHAN

Finished size: approx. 40 inches x 52 inches
Materials:Sportweight cotton and mercerized cotton thread. Coats & Clark Red Heart(Tm) 100% Cotton Sport Yarn, Article E.#284, 2-1/4 oz. skeins, 10 Bright Blue #813, 1 White # 1; J. & P. Coats(Tm) "Knit-Cro-Sheen," Article A.64, 250-yd. Ball, 1 White # 1.
Crochet Hook size H; size D crochet hook; size # 7 steel crochet hook.
Gauge: 6 stitches = 1 inch
DIRECTIONS
With blue and G hook, chain 168.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across, end with sc in last ch = 84 sc with ch-1 between each. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in first sc, * sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * across, end with sc in last ch-1; rep from * across, end with sc in last ch-1 sp, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in first sc, * ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp; rep from * across, end with ch 1, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until 230 rows from beg. Fasten off.

Snowflakes: Make several of each size snowflake. For large snowflakes, use D crochet hook and Cotton Sport Yarn; for small snowflakes, use # 7 steel crochet hook and "Knit-Cro-Sheen."

Finished size: 30 inches x 50 inches
Materials: Worsted-weight brushed mohair blend, Classic Elite LaGran Mohair, 1-1/2 ounce skeins, 9 White.
Crochet hook size K or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 5 stitches = 2 inches
DIRECTIONS
Chain 126 stitches to measure 50 inches.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch aross = 125 sc. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until 30 inches from beginning. Fasten off.

LOG CABIN AFGHAN

Finished size: approx. 48 inches x 64 inches
Materials: Worsted-weight acrylic blend. 3-ounce skeins, 4 each of Color A (Gold), Color B (Moss Green), Color C (Mauve), Color E (Gray); 3 each of Color D (Winter White).
Crochet hook size I or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 10 dc = 3 inches, 6 rows = 3 inches
DIRECTIONS
Note: If a color is to be used again on the same round, work over it with the next group of stitches and pick ip up when needed. If a color is not needed again on the same round, fasten off and join when needed on a future rnd. To avoid holes when changing colors, bring up new color from under dropped color. Always bring up new color as last yarn-over of old color.

Square 1(make 24): With color A, ch 6 and join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 for first dc, work 3 dc in ring, yo and draw up a lp in next st, yo and through 2 lps on hook, yo with B and through last 2 lps on hook (color change completed), work 5 dc with B, 5 dc with A, and 5 dc with B, changing colors as before. Join with sl st to top of starting ch-3 = 20 dc (including starting ch)
Rnd 2: With A, ch 3 for first dc, dc in next dc, 5 dc in next dc (corner completed), dc in each of 2 dc; with B, * dc in next 2 dc, 5 dc in next dc for corner, dc in 2 dc *; with A rep from * to * , with B rep from * to * ; join with sl st to top of starting ch (4 corner established).

Assembly: Arrange squares in a 6-square x 8-square checkerboard pattern. With right sides up, sc squares tog through back lps only.

Edging: Rnd 1: With right side facing, join C in any corner and ch 3 for first dc, work 4 dc in same corner; * dc evenly to next corner, 5 dc in corner; rep from * twice more; dc evenly across last edge, join with sl st to top of starting ch.
Rnd 2: ch 3 for first dc, dc in each dc around, work 3 dc in each corner. At end of rnd, join with sl st to top of starting ch.

SPRING

CONFECTIONARY CHENILLE
For a look as rich and appealing as a raspberry torte, layer rows of plush chenille in confectionary colors. Use a long stitch in lusicous pink to accent the simple design.
Finished size: approx. 65" x 72"
Materials: Acrylic chenille. Brand Neveda (Tm) Magic Chenille, 50-gram balls, 18 Pink #6759 (main color, MC), 15 White #6761 (A), 12 Gold #6751 (B), 12 Cocoa #6753 (C).
Crochet hook size: J or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 3 dc=1 inch; 3 rows in pat st = 2 inches.
DIRECTIONS
With A, ch 152.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, and in each ch across = 151 dc including starting ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3 for first dc, * dc in each of next 3 dc, ch l, sk l dc; rep from * across, end with l dc in each of last 2 dc, dc in top of starting ch. Fasten off. Turn.
Row 3: Join MC with sl st in first st, ch 3 for first dc, yo and draw up a lp from st 2 rows below, complete as a dc (long dc completed), * dc in each of next 3 dc, long dc in next dc; rep from * across, end with dc in top of turning ch. Fasten off. Turn.
Row 4: Join B, ch 3 for first dc, dc in each dc across. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 -4 for pat until about 72 inches from beg, end with A; work pat in following color arrangement: for each Row 3 rep use MC. Use A, B, and C alternately, joing each one in sequence at the beg of the rep of Row 4.
Edging: Right side facing, with piece turned to work across long edge, join A, ch 2 for first hdc, hdc evenly to next corner. Fasten off. Rep for rem long edge.
