Generation No. 1
1 ABRAHAM STANFORD was born Abt. 1757 in ENGLAND.
Children of ABRAHAM STANFORD are:
i. ADDIE3 STANFORD, m. GEORGE EMMITT.
. ii. JOHN THOMAS STANFORD, b. 1781, DORCHESTER CO., MARYLAND; d. January 29, 1826, WAVERLY, PARKE CO., OHIO.
Generation No. 2
John and Bathsheba migrated to Armstrong County, Pennsylvania shortly after their marriage. In 1817 the family moved to Waverly, Pike County, Ohio. John was a boat builder and while in Pennsylvania he built boats for people going down the Allegheny River then to the Ohio to the free land in Indiana and Illinois. When the family moved to Ohio they too went by boat. Once there they engaged in Boat building as well as towing Freight up the Sciota River. John's son Isaac often told of his journeys towing Freight all day then singing ditties and dancing the jib at night for which he would pass the hat.
John died in 1826 leaving Bathsheba a widow at 44 with 11 children from the ages of two to twenty two. In 1830 they packed their household belongings onto wagons and traveled overland 350 miles to the wild and untamed land of Tippecanoe County, Indiana where they made a settlement.
Throughout the years of struggle Bathsheba did not neglect her children's learning she taught them all to read and write when her son David began preaching as a Methodist Minister in 1830 she must have been very proud. David continued his preaching throughout his life, often as a circuit Preacher traveling the countryside preaching the word to all. During the Civil War he preached on the evils of Slavery and never wavered from his beliefs.
The family again migrated in 1838 to Clay County, Ilinois where they stayed . The township where they located was named after the family and is still called Stanford to this day.
Bathsheba as well as al most all of her chiildren and Grandchildren are buried at Mt. Zion Cem. In Flora, Stanford Township, Ilinois.
For an account of this family printed in the Clay County Illinous History Goto

Notes for FRANKLIN CLARENCE WESTFALL:
October 1949 Lexington Clipper
The death of Frank Westfall came not as a surprise to anyone , but his passing brought to the minds of all who were aware of his condition the spirit with which he faced the inevitable when he knew he was fighting a losing battle. Stricken several months ago with malignant disease of the throat , his first venture against the dreaded malady was to have his larynx removed. The operation left him speechless and also necessitated breathing through a open incisional opening in the front of his throat. This alone was enough to take the metal out of the strongest of the strong, but not so with Frank. For quite some time his mode of conversation was with a pencil and scratch pad, but he soon conquered a method of articulating words from his stomach which enabled him to carry on short conversations with his friends, If his spirit waned the least whit under such conditions it wasn't evident on the surface. he refused to sit back in solitude, but just went right on doing the things he liked to do and enjoying life to the fullest. His was the spirit of a real man. Peace to his soul and condolences to his loved ones
