Today we are wearing a shamrock so green
In memory of "Erin," the Fair Emerald Isle,
For here in America lives fair Colleen
With lovely blue eyes and a sweet Irish smile.
And though she is happy with us over here,
There is no place on earth to her heart quite so dear
As her fair native isle where the Wild Irish Rose
Blooms sweet in the land where the Old Shannon flows.
So in loving memory of St. Patrick dear
And fondly recalling the "Old Blarney Stone,"
We wear on our bosom a shamrock each year
And tenderly yearn for the old Irish home
With Patrick and Mike and sweet Kathaleen too,
To wander through flux fields all sparkling with dew.
America's grand for the rest of the year,
But we long for old "Erin" when St. Patrick Day's here.
