Thanksgiving 1933

For the glorious Autumn, Father, for fruits and fields of grain
We raise our hearts in gratitude for the harvest once again.
What though the nations are troubled and the people sore afraid
Our faith in thee is doubled, for thy help we humbly pray.

We pray that seed time and harvest may continue just the same
For the use of thy humble children, but not for graft and game
That the things you give in plenty to your children may be fed
That never more in this choice land may children cry for bread.

We pray that the rich and the mighty who govern with graft and greed
May cease the cruel destruction of the things that thy children need
That the corn, the wheat and the cotton, the fruit, the ?? and meant
May cease to be grown for profit, but for thy children to eat.
