Genealogy

I have pictures of Emily, Krista's birthday, and Krista and Val from our Thanksgiving trip to Tacoma.

Doris, Ruth, and Betty
Colyn and Madelyn

In the past month (2003), I've "re-found' some cousins. I have been able to link up with Ron, Bob, and Jim who have helped with info on the FRARY, GOLDEN, and LANT branches and I have received emails from 2 Trautlein's and an Ohio Brainard! I'm starting to find my missing Gottschalk's, Barrett's and Sweet's

In August 1998 and 2000, I attended the Frary family reunion in Mass. at the homestead. I was elected historian in 1998. My mother's father was a Frary. The Frary association is not online. If you would like that address, please email me. I have received boxes of Frary genealogy but don't have it all opened or sorted yet. I have entered my line and another branch into 'Family Tree' and hope to enter the rest of the books before the next reunion in 2002.

I ordered the death certificates for "FE" Frank Barrett and Ruth Stephens Barrett. Now I'm trying to find Frank's parents, Daniel Barrett of MA and Polly Copley of OH and Ruth (Stephens) Barrett's father who was listed as Abner Stevenson of PA and any info on their children, Courtney, Dell, Mary E. Parmley, and Mrs. Frank Cole (Nellie). My mother remembered that two of her children were Gertie and John Cole. I'm also looking for John H. and Harriet (Harris) Sweet from Wayne county, NY, Benjamin J. Sweet and Anthony Gottschalk, Lena (Maxin) Gottschalk, and Herman Lant from Lake county, OH and Barcelona, NY area. I received some important email about the Gottschalk's and now know their birthdates and the cemetary where they are buried. I went to the cemetary in Westfield, NY and took pictures of the Gottschalk and Lant stones.

We've been hunting for family links to Scotland, Ireland and England. One of Val's grandmothers is of Irish decent and one of my great-grandmothers is from the Isle of Man. We hope to find other links! I'm planning a trip to England to visit some of the ancestral homes of my families. We've had to postpone for a future date. We're hoping for 2000! So far my mother, aunt, sister, and a coworker plan to go. We're working on raising the money so I'll keep you posted.

Merle has moved the location of the pictures of Krista. Kathy removed the pictures of Chloe.

I've added some pictures of my father, Fred Newell Brainard. I think they will interest some of the Evans shipmates. Bud as a boy , Bud in the Navy , Bud in 1996 , Bud and Ruth , Bud's family. Sisters Charlotte and Doris and brother Jim. Tom and Barb in 1969 when we first met.

This is my home for genealogy research for Trautlein, Brainard, Main, Gottschalk, Sweet, Frary, Barrett & Schwan lines. As I find links to my family, I'll add them here. I've been searching for links through Rootsweb and Ancestry

I've started finding relatives on the web! Check out "cousin" Robbin's site. We have common starting point for the first known BRAINARD/BRAINERD family in America.

I found a site near here that was created by Jim Walters about the Parmlee family. His new site is The Family Parmelee. My mother was related to them through the Barretts, her mother's aunt married a Parmly. Cindy & I found more info on the Lake county Parmly's who were dentists, built the Parmley Hotel in Painesville, and the Parmly mansion is still in use as a camp. I sent the details to Jim.
