Joseph Tummelston Plemmons was born January 15, 1828 in Macon Co., North Carolina, and died January 12, 1909 in Hogg Creek, McLennan Co., Texas. He married (1) Martha Crumbly August 25, 1853 in Gilmer Co., Georgia. She was born 1833, and died 1858 in Gilmer Co., Georgia. He married (2) Dicey Katherine Chastain August 15, 1859 in Gilmer Co. Georgia, daughter of James Chastain and Elizabeth Smith. She was born September 07, 1841 in Gilmer Co. Georgia, and died July 24, 1924 in McGregor, McLennan Co., Texas.

Notes for Joseph Tummelston Plemmons:
Enlisted in Civil War Company F 11th Georgia Volunteer Infantry on February 24, 1862. On July 10, 1863 he was wounded in leg at the Battle of Funkstown where he was kneeling and a musketball hit him just above his knee passing through his leg into his ankle completely shattering the bones in his leg rendering his leg essentially useless. On May 25, 1888 he aplied for a maim soldiers pension and was paid fifty dollars on March 8 1889, March 14, 1890 and February 15, 1891. Moved to Texas shortly after. His widow did receive a widows pension.

Joseph was living in Gilmer County Georgia in 1860. During the 1860's he moved to Spring Place in Murray County Georgia. By June 8, 1880 they were living in Whitfield County Georgia. He moved to Crawford in McLennan County Texas by 1891.

Funeral services for Mrs. D.K. Plemons who died Thursday afternoon near Ocee were held yesterday afternoon at three oclock at the cemetery in Crawford.. Reverend Mr. Jolly, Pastor of Shilo Baptist Church officiating. Grandsons acted as pallbearers. There were many in attendance, as Mrs. Plemons had lived in that community since 1891 and was general esteemed.

James M. Plemons well known farmer of the Ocee section died at his Waco home at 1815 Mitchell last night at ten oclock. Funeral sevices will be held at the Crawford Cemetery today at 3:30 P.M. Besides by his widow, he is survived by five children, Roy, B.W. and R.S. Plemons of Crawford and E.B. Plemons of Waco and Miss Mirl Plemons of Waco; his mother Mrs. D.K. Plemons of Waco. Five brothers, Ben of McGregor, Thomas J. and George W. of Crawford, Robert H. of Hico, J.W. of Renerae Colorado and two sisters, Mrs. G.M. Pack of Waco and Mrs. Charlie Walters of McGregor.
The funeral procession will leave Waco at 1:00 today. Pallbears will be Cicero Graves of Waco, A.O. Jordan of Crawford, Jim Ewing of Ocee, Will Clark of Speegleville, R.W. McCollum of Ocee and Oscar McCollum of Crawford. Reverend Bridges of Valley Mills will officiate the services to be held at the cemetery. Mr. Plemons was well known here and about the county and was a member of both Oddfellows and Woodmen Lodges.
