Abraham Cline sold to James W. Jordan Book B. p. 20
This endenture made this ninth day of December in the year of our lord eighteen hundred and fifty two, between Absolom Cline of this county and state aforesaid of the one part and James W. Jordan, of the same place of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Absolom Cline, for and in cosideration of the sum of four hundred and thirty two dollars to him in hand paid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and does by these presents grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said James W. Jordan, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcell of land situated, lying and being in the 11th district
of the county of Whitfield, formerly Cherokee, known and distinguished in the plan of said district by the number 235 containing one hundred and sixty acres, more or less, with all the rights, member sand appurtenances to the said lot of land in anywise belonging, forever, in fee simple, And the said Absolom Cline, for himself and his heirs, executors and administrators, the said bargained premises together with the right title and assigns, unto the said James W. Jordan, will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other persons whatever. Before me, Raleigh Cupp, a Justice of the Peace, for said county personally came M.D. Strickland and being duly sworn, deposeth and saith that he saw A.B. James W. Jordan swore that his property and personal property was not worth more than $2000 and petitioned for homestead exemption from levy of Taxes.
To his honor W.J. Underwood of said county, the followig is a full and complete schedule of all the personal property owned and possessed byme this 1st day of February 1873, the whole of which will not exceed the in value the sum of $400

1 gray horse, 6 yrs old worth $125

I certify that I have this day made a careful survey of the land described in the above plat being Lot 235, 11th Dis, 3rd section, Whitfield County. Said described lot claimed by James W. Jordan as a homestead I find said lot with its improovements thereon worth three hundred dollars in specie to the best of my knowledge and belief.

On considering the application of James W. Jordan, the benfit of the homestead and exemption laws of this state it is ordered that the saud application be filed and entered on the minutes of this court and that the notice required by law be published and that the fixed (hour) of said notice be 10 o'clock on Saturday the fifteenth day of february , 1873 and it is furthered ordered that an order be issued to the county surveyor to lay off and make a plat of the homestead claimed by said applicant.
