Puffkins for Charities

7/15/99 Cosmo is Swibco's very own charitable Puffkin
Swibco has proven itself to be a very charitable company. Cosmo, a June, 1999 release, is dedicated to charity.  For each full size Cosmo bear sold, Swibco will donate 27 cents to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help them find a cure for childhood cancer. Each full size Cosmo has a special extra tag with the St. Jude logo on it.

8/27/98 John Pouleson, President of Swibco, Inc. donated 10,000 Dinosaur Puffkins to WGN radio station for an all day fundraiser.
Anyone who stopped by the radio station on August 27, 1998 received a specially tagged Puffkin of their choice and a scoop of Ben & Jerry's icecream. Donations were collected to benefit the "Chicago Neediest Kids Fund". I notice that John Pouleson is also an Honorary event chairperson for the drive sponsored by the Chicago Tribune. Here's a photo of the article that was featured in the "Kids Kronical" update.

It is my understanding that this was a special one day event and you'd need to contact the radio station WGN RADIO to ask about their availability and a suggested donation.

You can also get them from the online Girl Scouts Shop (click on "Gift Shop" then go to "Huggables/Keepsakes" page #4). I understand they still have the three original styles available: Fetch, Quakster and Bandit. They are $7.95 each plus tax, shipping & handling. There is no additional swing tag on Fetch, Quakster and Bandit, but the back of the regular tag is altered and says "GIRL SCOUTS" above the UPC code.  From what I'm told, the Girl Scouts catalog that was released in August of 1999 has Gus, Bandit and Olley - and also their key rings!

FOR SPECIALLY TAGGED ILLINOIS FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S CLUBS PUFFKINS
(help prevent child abuse). Call Pat at: (312) 939-0835. If she isn't there, leave her a message with your phone number and she will call you back. They have any current Puffkin or keychain with a special Lavender tag added on that says: "OUR PROMISE - A SAFE PLACE FOR EVERY CHILD on one side of the extra tag with a blue ribbon outline. The other side of the tag says, "GFCW Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs. A portion of the proceeds of this sale are donated for the prevention of child abuse." Pat tells me that from December of 1997 to May of 1998 over $8,000.00 was donated. You will need to pay with a check or money order. Each Puffkin is $7.00, each keychain is $4.50. The price includes shipping and handling - BUT there is a minimum order of 5 .
