Puffkin Ponderings!
for June, 1999
brought to you by www.puffkinfriends.com

Swibco has announced the 5 retirees! There are now 28 retired Puffkins.
We must say goodbye to: Henrietta, Lily, Paws, Peeps and (surprise!)

PATRIOT!

Patriot the Eagle #6693 was just released in May of 1999.
He showed up in stores just this month with 2 different color eyes - goldish-yellow & blue - no special tag or status - but like Hugs & Kisses, Patrick & Patty, and Spike, no keychain or magnet was made. Acording to
Swibco's May 7th Puffkin Press BLUE eyes were just a manufacturing error. The new "Official Puffkins Collector's Guide" (just released on June 15th!) mentions that approximately 10,000 Patriot's have the blue eyes and that the goldish-yellow eyes will be more common. We still don't know exactly how many Patriot's were made. Patriot's eyes are neat though because they have been cut off on the top to make him look fierce.

"The Official Puffkins Collector's Guide" has been shipped to retailers! If you haven't pre-ordered a copy - you won't want to miss this important piece of Puffkins history. (And, I'm not  just saying that because MY picture is in it). It is a beautiful, full-color, 72 page bound soft cover book that includes all kinds of interesting and official Puffkins information. An interview with John Pouleson, Swibco's president, and a history on how Puffkins began highlight the beginning of the book. The bulk of the guide is pictures and information on each individual Puffkin. They even have the newest (June, 1999) Puffkins and the June 14th retireds listed! Most online retailers are offering it for sale - some have special deals. You can find a list of reputable online retailers on the Retail Links page. The Puffkin Collector's Club has a special offer for their members too.

Also, more big news is that the 5 new Puffkins were announced by Swibco: Jake the Blue Jay, Mystic the Y2K Wizard, Jules the Striped Fish, Dillard the Mallard Duck and a "benefit" Puffkin: "Cosmo" the Rainbow Bear. For each Cosmo bear sold Swibco will donate 27 cents to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital  to help them find a cure for childhood cancer. Cosmo will have a special magenta tag with the St. Jude logo on it.

www.puffkinmom.com is announcing that they are the "official site of the new Puffkin Trading cards".  They tell me they should be ready in a couple of months. We can look forward to more info on this soon!
