The Hancock family begins with my first ancestor to come to America, William Hancock. William was a member of "The Virginia Company", a group of businessmen investing in the settlement of an area later to be known as Jamestown, VA. He came to Virginia in 1619 aboard the "Margaret" of Bristol and lived on the Berkeley Hundred Plantation.
