The Blue Water Council is a small Boy Scout council centered in Port Huron, Michigan. It consists of two counties, St. Clair and Sanilac. This area is commonly known as the "thumb" because of its location in Michigans "mitten". The name Blue Water is the nickname for the geographic area that includes Lake Huron and the St. Clair River. These bodies of water are naturally blue, not muddy brown like other lakes and rivers. A major landmark, the Blue Water International Bridge, links Port Huron to Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. This bridge appears on the council strip. This international crossing is a part of the trade corridor between Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with connections to both I-94 and I-69. Just this past July, a second span of the Blue Water Bridge was opened to accommodate the increase in traffic. There is only one district within the council, the Thomas Edison District. The BWC has 30 troops, 47 packs, and 8 posts. Our PurposeThe purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.
