B. D. "Spud" Fausett died in the Veteran's Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. His younger brother Lewis Lynn died March 25, 1997. His other brother Jimmy Glen lives in Center and his sister Shirley Willingham lives in San Jose, California. Spud, as his friends called him, went to elementary school at Lamar which was located on the upper Arcadia Road. He attended Center High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17 and was stationed in Guam after World War II. Following his tour in the service he was married to Dorothy Gilchrist. Children: Beverly, Wayne and Brenda: 7 grandchildren. He worked as a carpenter, truck driver and the manager of the Center Locker Plant, and as a union construction worker until his heart attack and stroke in 1978. He then restored to a more relaxed lifestyle. He enjoyed selling produce on the WalMart parking lot. Maybe you saw him there selling sweet potatoes. He was a very active member of the New Hope C congregational Methodist Church. He could be found in late May mowing the church lawn getting ready for the annual homecoming and dinner on the ground that is the first Sunday in June. He was also a member of Sam Samford Lodge #149 where he served as an officer for many years. Whether it was at the church homecoming, a lodge meeting or at the WalMart parking lot, he enjoyed visiting and talking with people. He was always teasing someone about something. Make people laugh delighted him and he loved to laugh too. He was a very dedicated father and husband who loved life and his family very much.
