Senior Will
1945
TO be filed this night of April 20th, nineteen hundred and forty five. The State of Texas, City of Center, County of Shelby.
Know all Juniors by these presence, that we, the Senior class of 1945 of the Center Public Schools, being of good health, sound mind and memory and realizing the uncertainty of graduation and the certainty of your being here next year, do make and publish this last will and testament, revoking all wills by us at any time heretofore made.
First----to one of your favorite teachers, Mrs. Liem:
We leave $887,769,432,156,652. and 1 cent. This may seem fantastic but the total consist of: For every joke she has read out of the Texas Outlook 1 cent, but for every one that went over----$500. To date this accounts for only $1,000 of the total; for every sarcastic remark ---- 5 cents and for every time she's raised her eyebrow---3 cents.

The Van Johnson of Center High; the 14 day beauty plan come to life; the man with the Frank Sinatra build and the Technique of Charles Boyer---We give you Robert "Bigboy" Wyatt--- take a bow "Big Boy."
"Stinky" Carriker---the Arthur Murray of Center, who has mastered, after six years of diligent practice, the hardest step in all dancing, the two step, wills this technique to Harley Burros--The Huck Finn of Huanee Hollow. He also wills his claims on Jane Ruth Ingram--if he has any - to none other than George Ihlo.
Bobby Leo Hughes that "Give her an inch and she'll take a mile" girl leaves her ability to take charge of everything she has anything to do with to Mary Wallace who, according to her past record, should have no trouble learning the art!
Doris Broadway, the super Stenographer of the Senior Class, wills her ability to type, talk and take dictation, to those three captivating cuties of the Junior class Billye Faye Doggett, Joyce and Alvis Hughes to be a secretary and sit on the bosses knee!
Myrtle Mills will everything she's got (whistles ) to Shirley Smith and Maxie Brown. Incidentally Maxie's got enough, but wishes she had more.
Darrell Brittain willfully wills fifty pounds of his excess weight to Paul "I want to tall skinny papa" Ross.
Buddy "Hubba, Hubba, Hubba" Gelding wills his intelligent expressions to Billy "Buster" Stevens. Buddy also wills his quiet disposition to Eugene "Rowdy" Webb. He wished to leave too his romances on the Huxley school bus to Gail "Half Junior-Senior" Samford and Bishop Samford -- Are they Brothers??
Joyce "Amphibious Corp" Ham--the girl with a sailor in every port wills her experiences with bell bottom trousers to the girl who already acts like a navy wife - Mona "Teaser" Jones. I say "teaser" because she's the kind that kisses a boy once and then teases him the rest of the night.
Billy Poplin, better known as number 19, wills his position on the football team to Fred "Botchy" Baugh and also he wills one of his jackets to Cecil Winningham, just in case "Nail Keg" doesn't letter.
Billy Forney Covington wills his office as president of the Child's Bull Durham C;lub to Billy Fincher, and his ability to hit a spittoon at twenty-five feet to George Raymond Johnson.
H. B. Sanders who has mastered the art of pitching a fifty cent piece at a line wills his accomplishment to Harold Ellington. He also wills to "Mole Head" a Thumb Tack with a hope that he'll catch the hint and take his tooth out of his back pocket and tick it in. H. B. Sanders also leaves his green sports coat to Early Snider, who will probably wear it with his baseball suit.
Jerry Richards leaves his shiny teeth and glistening freckles to Drue Kennon who already has a abundance of both. If Drue wouldn't keep his mouth open all the time maybe they wouldn't be so noticeable.
Carl Greer wills his dimples and sweet smiles to Gladney Frame who will look much cuter with them, that is, if Betty Potts thinks so.
Tommy "Teasipper" Morrison who has nothing that anybody else would want and who is known as the boy that breaks in the girls who aren't too popular wills his peculiar taste for women to two of the cutest and most timid boys in the junior class--Why they drool all over themselves when a girls speaks to them. They are, Lawrence Daughtery, who has come out of his timidness a little while in the physics laboratory when all the shades are down---is that right Barbara??, and Jimmy Glen Day. Jimmy Glen is supposed to be timid too, but in the fourth period study hall when he walks into the library through one door all the girls in it run out the other one---screaming. What do you do in there ---Skin???
Margie McCarther and Ela Goings who have eagerly and tirelessly read all 110 volumes of "Don't Envy a Tooth-Pick"---You Too can be Thin" will all their information to and Eula Mae Campbell.
Joann Johnson wills her torches for Burke Morrison and that big, broad, bony, brawny dribble of San Augustine basketball team, Jack Greer, incidentally he's my uncle. to Bonnie Ruth Halliburton and Jeanne Mooseburgh, who both make frequent trips to S.A. ---She also wills her position as Valedictorian to Billye Ruth Campbell.
Cecil Eddins, Vivian Johnson and Mary Ruth Woods will their big times at "D-Brown's" and their dates with these prison guards to Helen Jane Jones and Melba Riuth Grimsley.
Jack Parker bequeaths a one-way ticket to San Augustine to Kenneth Petty and he also wills his curly hair and physique to L. E. Baker and Howard Parker who have had no luck taking the Charles Atlas Course. To"Little" Howard he also leaves a little knowledge on how not to be made a sucker because Howard's theme song is "I only want a buddy not a sweetheart" after being jilted by Jane Locke.
Edna "Boggie-Woggie" Jacobs wills her popularity at Shelbyville High to Avis McSwain, Mattie Oliver and Wynell Hammers. She also wills her musical abilities to Audrey Minton.
Rosel "Shuffle" Schillings leaves her career on the state to Melba Ruth Grimsley and her misfortune of being stood up more that any other girl in high school to Jaunice Wheeler, who we feel, can do this position justice.
Ann Simon wills her outboard curves, especially from the knees down to Betty "Bring on The" Potts.
Ernestine Stewart who suddenly took an interest in farming during the time she was going with a draft dodger Saturday Darmer wills her technique to those two pin-up girls of the Junior class--Lucille Peters and Nevaska Williams. Also Ernestine bequeaths a few of her tight-fitting, profile exposing sweaters to Katharine Walker,--We hope they will fit by next year.
Maurice Samford wills his good looks and dashing personality to John Reagan Harris and his iron clad anatomy and his seat in the office to Billy Booth and Pat Studdard.
Leonard Parrott wills his big chest and muscles to Bobby Smith who is getting really desperate for muscles. It seems that the freshmen girls told him that if he'd grow they'd go with him.
James "Loud Mouth" Monk wills his boisterous voice and courage to speak before large audiences to Charles Hughes. He also wills his musical experiences to G. J. "I bet I sound like Harry James" Brittain. Incidentally, Monk blew a jug in the Flat Fork band.
Temple Williams, alias, The Hairy Ape, bequeaths some of his excess hair to "Passionate" Jack Loveladdy who will be bald headed before he's twenty if something doesn't happen---but quick!
Syble Brawley--That fast, flirtatious, flapper amongst us, unselfishly gives her "adenoid accent" to that sky, mousy little creature Fay Nelley Windham and also Miss Brawley leaves her intelligence to Burey Dean Mahan who will, after reading this, be the only one in the junior class who can even Look Intelligent.
Dan Brittain, know for being the craziest boy in high school, the wolf with a "never say quit" determination and a technique all his own leaves all this much needed experience to two of the ugliest boys in the junior class who are widely known for the kisses especially the second won Robert Brittain and Billy "Slue" O'Rear!
Jackie "Who cares what time it is" Smith wills Marge Harris her illuminated dialed watch so, no matter how dark the parking place is Marge can see when its 10:00 and time to go home.
Mrs. E. B. Samford, nee Gloria Jean Becham bequeaths her full set of wedding bells to Paula "Gee, I wish I had a man" Ross, Betty "Yes and I can cook too" Metcalf, and Sadie "I'd say yes to anything" Cook---Those three juniors, have listened for so many years for anything that sounds like bridal bells, they have gotten to the point where they faint an fall out when the buzzer rings between classes.
Bobby Faye Irish and Francis Fowler---The leaders of the "Down with the Detention Hall" movement, will their guns and numitions to Lois "Apple of Mrs. Wooley's eye" Parker, who has proved her loyality to the students and has recently been nominated as the leader of the movement titled "Fire Ferdie--Eliminate Eddings."
Evelyn Taylor, Asasue Chadwich, and Carlene Hudson will their intelligence in Mr. Sam's economic class to Edna Mae Gilgriest. Along with this go all their love affairs and experiences in the romantic world, to none other than Betty Metcalf and Mary Ann Franklin.
Jayne "Jilter" Lock wills her clumsy walk, which, in Jerry Payne's opinion is "So beautiful, graceful - and OH SO CUTE" to Leona Spells---who will really have an added attraction when she gets it--wills her silly giggle and witty saying to all the girls in the junior class.
