The Craft Corner

This is my corner. I am right into crafts and making things. I love to sew, crochet, knit, embroider, cross stitch, and sometimes rug hook. I am not to good at any of these things as they are things that I have taught myself to do. I do however really enjoy making things, especially for other people for gifts. I would much rather give someone something handmade than something bought at a store. I just hope that people appreciate it.

I have just taught myself to sew within the last year. I decided that it was necessary as I was looking at a little girls dress in a chain store and it was $65.00 to buy a dress for a two year old. Seemed a little too expensive to me for something so tiny and believe me she was tiny. Only wore 18months. I decided to teach myself to sew and started making clothes for my granddaughter by hand (no machine). My ex-mother-in-law asked why I was doing all the work by hand. I just couldn't make my machine do what I wanted since it wasn't working properly. It needed a good through cleaning that was all, which my ex-father-in-law gave it. I find it really neat since I have learned to use it. I have been making Taylor's clothes and some stuffed animals. Really enjoying being able to make these things for her and for my son who has me making shorts and pants. I am also making some clothes for some things and me for the new baby. Better be a boy as Glenda has me making everything in blue.

I also love to crochet. I have joined the crochet network. They have exchanges, which I have joined one of. I enjoy the letters and cards and squares receive from different people in this exchange. I also have designed some christening gowns over the years. I like doing that kind of thing. I have recently joined crochetmama's place. Really neat group of women and also a real neat set of exchanges. I am sure looking forward to these exchanges starting. Also like making small Afghans.

I also belong to another crochet club called Ladies of the Circle Square. This is a club that makes a blanket between 16 ladies each blanket will include 3 squares from each lady and each square is an 8" square. I have received some very interesting squares. I think this blanket will be neat. Just have to get mobile and get it done.

I am into knitting also. Love to make sweaters and jumpsuits for the granddaughter, however do also make sweaters for the other kids. I also make socks for the kids upon request. I am not so good at that however. I have also made sweater and other things and sold them in the past. Just not done anything likes this recently.

Embroidery is just a once in a while thing to pass time. Once in a while I will make something there. Way too tedious for me but can make anything that I would like to try.
I really do enjoy to cross-stitch but am not to good at it. I like doing the counted cross-stitch better than the ones with the stamped pattern, as they are so much easier to do to me. You don't have to try to cover up the stitches that are marked on the cloth. I never seem to get the stitches to cover the marks they put out for you to work with. I hope to get it going a whole lot better one of these days. At present I am making one for my mother-in-law about grandchildren. I think I will really like it when and if I ever get it done. To bad I don't have enough grandchildren to make it worth my while to make it for me. Looks like since the hubby left me I will make this for myself and pray for more grandchildren. Right now I am working on a Praying hands sampler. Sure hope it turns out okay, as I want to do the collection for my wall.
