This Week's Happening's!

24 January 1999

The house is pretty neat, now that it is working ok! The first day, no hot water... the second day, the landlord fixed the hot water heater, but plugged the water line! The third day he got the water to work again, then on the fourth day... the fuse box blew up and no electricity! Cheri was highly upset!!! She contacted the housing office and informed them that unless he fixed all of the major problems, the contract was null and void under the "lemon law" and that she was not going to pay him one red cent until the fixes were done! He rewired the fuse box and came out again on the fifth and sixth days to try and figure out what caused the problem. I honestly think that the reason it blew is because the "hot" wire that comes into the house was partially above ground and "insulated" with electrical tape! The rains came, and poof, fuse box blew! Oh well! We finally figured out the heat for the house! The houses come with no heaters, you have to go buy them, so we did! Not warm, but you can't see your breath at night like you did that first night! Can't wait for the heat to begin here. The people say that we have about 3 more weeks then it will warm up! Nice house... just have to get used to it!

Cheri wants me to say that she REALLY misses everyone! I must agree! It is not the usual displacement of the move type of missing everyone... we really want to be back in the States! I must agree with her, and we are going to come back after this tour in Spain! It is neat, but we really miss the convienience of the States. You know what that is... central heat, or central air... phone lines.... electricity that is geared for all the stuff that we need to plug in... English as a primary language... stuff like that! We like it here.... but we miss it there! No need to be concerned, we are survivors!

The girls are liking school, and even had a pretty cool field trip last week! They went to the Al Cazar... a castle from the B.C. time frame. Then they went to a Necropolis! Chelsea thought it was neat, but Caroline said she was bored! Today they are finishing getting all the stuff in their rooms, and Cheri says that they are having fun doing it!

As you have seen... we are here and having a blast! Come by whenever you feel like it, and we will do it up right!
