Halloween was fun! The kids made out like bandits and the adults had fun too! There was a Haunted House in the Pool's locker rooms, and they did an awesome job! Tooter, you have seen the area and you would not recognise it at all! There was also a Carnival on the Tennis courts where I ran a shooting gallery! The neighborhood boys spent all of their allowance on it! They had a blast and I had fun teaching them how to aim and shoot!
The Hail-and-Farewell was Friday night and we had a great time... of course it was our Farewell! For the ill-informed, a Hail-and-Farewell is once a quarter where "everyone" gets together for a banquet and introduces the new people at the base, and say goodbye to the ones leaving in the next 3 months. Cheri got honored by the First Sergeant for the work that she did with the Loaner Closet, and the Colonel and I sang a duet of a David Allen Coe song! Yes, it was fun!
The house is ready to be packed now. Cheri has done an awesome job of having a schedule of what to do and when to do it, and we are right on time and ready for the movers tomorrow! Everything is off of the walls, out of the drawers and off the shelves and stacked in organized piles to speed up the process. Cheri says it looks like an office that has not been put together yet. One thing for sure... we are ready for them to come and get it out of our way now! Tomorrow it will echoooooooooo. They will take everything out of the house, and then we will get "loaner furniture" for the rest of the time that we are here. Just one thing... the first night they only bring the beds... that way the guys bringing the furniture won't be tripping over the movers trying to get our stuff out of here. So... it will be very empty and echoing on Monday night! Tuesday morning they will bring the rest of the loander stuff!
Wanna see de-ja-vous? Just read the second paragraph!
Guess where we are going to live when we get to Georgia! At the "Grassy Ponds Campground"!!! They have a 250 acre lake with onsite fishing liscense, nature trails, paddle boats, john boats, volleyball courts, a lodge with gameroom and food bar... and we will be staying in a 2 bedroom cabin! Sure beats a hotel room! What a way to start a new assignment! On vacation!
The girls are such great people! They not only assisted greatly with their stuff... they helped around the house all weekend. Caroline is a little bummed as I type this, I think it is because she is realizing that everything is about to leave us again... she does not like that part of moving. Actually I don't think she likes moving at all. Weighs on her nerves too much. Chelsea, on the other hand, could care less. She looks at it like I do... another chance to go do something... lets go! She was a great help in the kitchen with Mom tonight! Caroline was a great help all around!
