I was born in New Orleans, but claim Texas as my home. The family moved to Houston 3 months after I was born, and that is where I grew up! I like the town, but after having my own family, don't know if I will ever move back there. I like it, but after being in some of the places that I have been, I do like the small town life!
I had a good childhood, played all the "boy" sports, and even got pretty good at baseball! I played Varsity at Klein Forest High School for all 4 years, and was one of a few good pitchers in the area of Houston! I was officially clocked at 103mph once, and tried to take that arm into a college arena. My lack of studying in High School did not help, and once I got to college... women, parties, and the lack of parents pretty much ended that! I went to Dallas, and lived there for a while. Bounced in a bar for a while, and had to use my Pop to come up and get me... had to leave that town quick.
Pop helped me get a job with a communications company out of San Leon TX, and they put me on the road. We were touring Missouri on a 4 monther...and I met a lady that scared me to death...yes, she is now my wife! Cheri and I moved to Tucson AZ, and it was there that we decided to get married, then after the discovery of the pending birth of our first child, I joined the Air Force there. Talk about weird, Pop had always bugged me to join, and there was NO way that I would go into the military, especially the Air Force...that was what he was in. Well, a baby on the way, and no insurance with either of the jobs that Cheri and I had, and I went looking for what the military had to offer.... I went to all of the other branches, but did not like what they had to offer, and I finally went to the Air Force, and *poof* here I am!
I remember calling Cheri from Tech School when I finally got my orders to our first base! I told her I had bad, and good news. She said "Is it North Dakota?" I said that was the good news, no it is not ND, it is "South Dakota". Her response was the same as mine.... "Where is South Dakota???" To say the least, the 4 years that we spent there at Ellsworth AFB was too short! We loved it! What a beautiful area of the country!
Then we were in Japan, the northern area of Japan! Misawa AB is something to see! I was the NCOIC of Mobility while there, and I made Staff Sergeant there too. It was a great tour. Spent 5 years there, and would recomend it to anyone!
Now I am at Moron Air Base Spain. It is very small, and very isolated, but this has been a great tour.
Thanks for the visit, and please sign the guestbook on your way out!
