Charing CrossRising for about six minutes, looking north-west. The Ministry of Defence is immediately behind the river; then comes Charing Cross station, with the Post Office tower (about 2 miles away) poking out from through the air conditioning steam. Centre Point is the brownish cigar-shaped object to the right, with the office blocks on the Victoria Embankment at the far right.

smogBy this height, we can see the end of the layer of smog. This is looking slightly east of north.

westFirst of six shots from near the top of the ride. This one's looking almost due west, towards Buckingham Palace.

northwestThis one looks north-west. Note how the skyscrapers are visible. The hills in the distance are Hampstead Heath, almost seven miles away.

northeastLooking just north of east, towards the Shell Centre, with Waterloo station hiding behind. The shadows on the horizon are the towers at Canary Wharf and Docklands.

northThis one's looking north, towards Holburn and Bloomsbury.

southwestAnd looking south west, towards Croydon and Lambeth.
