In the name of god amen the eleventh day of December anno domini 1625 I William Holbrooke the elder of Glaston in the County of Somerset yeoman beinge sick of body but of perfect mynde and remembrance thancks be unto almightie god therefore doe ordayne and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following . First I bequeath my soule unto almightie god my creator trusting only in the mercy and meritts of Jesus Christ my redeemer to have remission and forgiveness of all my sinns and my body to the earth to be buried in christian manner at the discrection of my executer hereafter named. Item I bequeath and my will is that my sonne Thomas Holbrooke shall have my two kyne in liewe and recompence of seven pounds and tenn Shillings which I owe him. Item my will is that my bay mare shalbe sold att her true valewe and that my daughter Basill Holbrooke shall have fower marks of that mony which I owe unto her and the residue of the mony of the price of the said mare (if anie be) shalbe paid unto my said sonne Thomas Holbrooke if the said two kyne be not of the full and true valewe of 7 pounds and 10 shillings. Item I give and bequeath to every one of my children as well men as women 5s shillings a peece. Item my will and meaning is and I bequeath unto my sonne John Holbrooke (if he be livinge) my ground att the Moore yeate together with the leases and conveyances thereof but if he be deade then my will is that Thomas Holbrooke the younger Edmond Tyly and Clement Weaver the younger, my three grand children shall have the said ground for all the termes I have therein to come. All the rest of my goods and chattles not herein formerly bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my sonne William Holbrooke the younger whome I make my whole executor of this my last will and testament. Item my will is that Thomas Tyly Clement Weaver thelder my sonns in lawe and Thomas Holbrooke thelder my owne sonn shall have the use and possession the said ground together with the custody and keeping of the conveyaunces thereof aswell for thuse of my sonn John Holbrooke (if he be livinge) as alsoe for those of my said three grand children to whome I have given the said ground in case my sonne John Holbrooke be deade. And I further make my said sonn Thomas Holbrooke Clement Weaver thelder and Thomas Tyly overseers of this my last will and testamt. But my will further is that my grandchild Nicholas Bennit shall have forty shillings to be paid him out of the said ground at moore gate and to that purpose my will is that the said ground shalbe letten for a yeare ymediatly after my decease and the said forty shillings shalbe paid out of the rest thereof.
