The Earth, our home, is the third planet from the Sun, has a diameter at the Equator of 7,926 miles, at the poles the diameter is 7,900 miles, which makes the earth slightly pear shaped.
One rotation on it's axis calculates to 23.94 hours, slightly short of the 24 hours to which we class as a day period.
The remaining time is made up every four years called a Leap year when another day is added to the calender during the month of February. This still leaves a period of time which is then added periodically to calculate to a Leap second, which was recently added.
The accelerated velocity of the Earth's rotation is 32.1 feet/second/second.
To escape the Earth's gravitational pull a speed of 6.96 miles/second must be achieved, the tilt of the Earth on it's axis is 23 degress from true.
The atmosphere of Earth is unquie heavily based with Nitrogen/Oxygen/Hydrogen and composite mixtures of other gases,create the the basic ingredient to create water and life as we know it.
The surface temperature is varied and ranges from +136.4 degrees to -126.9 degrees.
Life is varied consisting of both land and water based carbon creatures ranging from cold and warm blooded insects,reptiles,birds,marsupials and mamals. The most infulential of life on Earth is the Homosapian "Man" adaptable, social and intelligent "Man" has been around for a brief period of time compared to the age of their host planet.
