Hello, I'm Kathy. This webpage is dedicated to researching my family's history (mostly). If you find any connections, I'd love to hear from you. With the help of some very kind and knowledgeable people, my family tree has really grown! I've made separate pages for each of the family names I'm interested in with links and family trees.

Bigney - Biguenet/Bignuette - French/Swiss, originally from Montbeliard, France, this family can be traced back to Jacques Bignuette who came to Nova Scotia aboard the "Betty" in 1752, fleeing persecution from the Catholic Church. The name was Anglicized to Bigney sometime after.

Cain - Kane - Irish - My great grandfather Michael Francis Cain was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He married Mary Ellen Hussey and started a family in North Dakota where they homesteaded in 1896. They had a frame house 16 X 24 X 9 and a sod barn, 32 X 40. According to the 1900 Census they lived there with their 4 children and a boarder. It must have been REALLY cozy. They ended up in Alberta, Canada. The name was changed from Kane by one of my ancestors sometime after they crossed the Mississippi.

Froggatt - English - My branch of this family came over to Canada and the US during the "Great Depression" one at a time. With the help of Milton Froggatt of New Zealand and Clive Froggatt of England, this family has been traced back to Robert Froggatt who died in 1600.

Purvis - Scottish in origin. My great grandfather Andrew Purvis we believe was born in Scotland, but the date he came over to Nova Scotia is unknown.
