We enjoy having a lot of cook outs in the summer months. On the Fourth of July is our biggest usually. We have lots of relatives over then. We sit on the deck and visit all afternoon, mostly because we stuff ourselves on picnic food at lunch and are to lazy to move after that. Some of the relatives stick around until it's time to go to the fireworks. Myself I don't usually go because there are to many mosquitos to suit me. I think in the winter time our favorite get together is Christmas. I always like lots of decorations and I think the kids have always liked that too. Once when the kids were young we did our tree with all homemade decorations. I think the kids really enjoyed that. But now I collect teddy bears so naturally our tree is trimmed in mostly teddy bears. And on top of the tree is perched a cuddly teddy bear. This family is together most all of the holidays. Some are very special. One year I remember we colored Easter Eggs the hard way. We hand painted them. That took quite a while to do, but was lots of fun. And the eggs were kind of pretty. I think the favorite things in this family at holidays is the food. We do love our food. One of my favorites for dessert is an Eclair Dessert. My family loves this one. My husband and I enjoy our beagles very much. it's almost like having two little kids around, they are quite entertaining. Their favorite thing I think is to unroll toilet tissue if they get a chance to get into the bathroom. They are pretty much out growing the mischevious things but I don't think they will ever out grow that. Also we enjoy having grandkids stay with us. We seem to acquire one or the other of them latley. And they are all a lot of fun.
Mix together 1c. of water, 1/2 c. of butter or margerine, heat to a rolling boil, stir in 1 c. of flour (over low heat) to form a ball. Remove from heat and add 4 eggs and beat until smooth. Spread into an ungreased cake pan and bake about 35 minutes at 400 degrees (or until golden brown. Let crust cool. Mix up two large packages of vanilla pudding according to box directions and pour into crust after cooled. After pudding is slightly set cover with whipped topping. Next put swirls of chocolate syrup on top and run a fork through it for a fancy dessert.
