Jordan is the youngest of my three children. He is a happy-go-lucky child who can be very shy at first and has been slow to lose that "invisible elastic umbilical" attachment to me. He was recently evaluated and found to have speech delays similar to his brother and sister. I am praying that he will be more like his brother and only need one year of speech therapy to correct the difficulties. The doctors, teachers, psychiatrist, and pediatric developmentalist have noted that he does not have ADD, hyperactivity, or NF. I was extremely happy to hear this. Up until two months before these evaluations, Jordan had never had any problems other than an occasional cold and some noticeable speech problems. Unfortunately, during the evaluation phase, he developed an ear infection that persisted until a second round of antibiotics. He also developed a hydrocele that had to be operated on after the ear infection cleared up. The operation was scary to say the least. Jordan was feeling fine the next day after surgery though and could not understand why he had play restrictions until we explained it at least twenty times. |
