Emma is my all time favorite movie. I have lost
track of how many times I have watched it. It's an
entertaining and fun movie about a young woman who
believes in making sure her friends are happily
matched and married. She means well, but has many
mishaps. Although she believes the same for almost
everyone around her, she does not want the same for
herself. That is until she quite unexpectedly falls
in love.
It may not be as true to the novel as the A&E
version, but I enjoyed the characterizations much
more. The music is perfect. The costumes are
fascinating. If you're a horse lover, there are some
gorgeous Friesians (my dream horse) pulling some
lovely carriages.
If I had to pick my favorite scenes (which is hard to
do, there are so many delights in this film), they
would probably be the Ball and the Proposal.
My favorite quote at the moment is:
Emma: I may have lost my heart but not my self
control.
