Davis Church of Christ

The Davis church of Christ (established in 1946) is part of the same New Testament church that Christ established on the first Pentecost after His resurrection.
Christ has a unique relationship with the church. He is recognized as the only head of the church and all authority is attributed to Him. He purchased it with His blood.
Only His church is subject to Him and He is its Savior. The church is His elect by virtue of hearing the gospel; loving God; trusting Christ; repenting of sins and being baptized into Christ for the remission of sins.
In order to remain Christ's special people, the Davis church of Christ recognizes the sole authority of the New Covenant in regard to organization, worship, mission and morals.

CAMPUS MINISTRY

The Davis church of Christ has supported full-time campus ministers during the past two decades. We recognize the tremendous importance of telling young people how they can have an abundant and meaningful life now. And, in addition, how they can have eternal happiness only through Jesus Christ. University of California, Davis (UCD) students can, while obtaining a college education, grow spiritually and leave Davis better prepared to serve the Lord.
We are currently working with several UCD students, and have worked with hundreds of UCD students over the years.

THE GREAT COMMISSION

Jesus said to his apostles, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..." (Matt. 28:18-20).
Based on these words of Jesus and many examples of the early church, the Davis church of Christ has a strong interest in spreading the gospel to all nations. During the past few years Bernard Howell, one of our evangelists and a former missionary in Italy for eleven years, trained four of our university students to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. The church provided full suport to two students and partial support for two. The students learned to speak Italian fluently and each one spent two years in Italy. Two lived in Florence and two lived in Bergamo. While there, they also spent some time in Albania. With the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe, Christians need to be prepared to meet the challenge of sharing Christ with those who have not had the opportunity to learn about His saving grace.

In the future, we anticipate training and sending many more of our young people overseas to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
