Looking Back on 1999

What an adventurous, terrific year. This was the year I called my parents at least every other week... decided to take a dating sabbatical for two months... became allergic to indoor cats... caught the Creative Memories bug... swam weekly until I moved out of my apartment (two months)... moved into Adan's beautiful, brand new home... started telecommuting four days a week for work... fell in love with Mark Wagner... interviewed with and received a job offer from my LASIK eye surgeon (but did not accept)... joined a gals Bunko group... coached "The Saints" softball team (placed 3rd)... Tae Boe'd with Mark... planted tomatoes and sunflowers (in the ground)... painted sunflowers on my lightswitch plates (with artist friend Angie)... got a trampoline in Mark's backyard (thanks to friends Sally and Julian who didn't want it) and jumped alot... attended Perpetual Adoration for an hour of prayer monthly... really learned how to pray the rosary... tip-toed thru the tulips (with Margo during her April visit; ordered 100 bulbs that Mark and I later planted - d'ems alot of bulbs)... got back in touch with old HS friends Mark and Doug... camped for the first time in OR (with Mark at parents site in LMCH and at Silver Falls for a soggy 4th of July)... managed a free-lance writer at work... learned that the Portland office is closing so may lose my job... fainted twice and had an EKG (same day, am healthy now as far as I know)... joined the church youth lit band (as a singer)... bowled my alltime high of 192 (at 2:00 in the morning of course)... hiked to Triple Falls (with June visitors Francie and Andy), Paradise Park at Mt. Hood (with Jacquie and Ben), Silver Falls, and Placid Lake, WA (with Mark)... visited a Christmas tree-farm for the first time (and first time a falling tree has ever landed on my head - Mark!)... was asked to be an RCIA sponsor for Jennifer (said yes)... opened a Roth IRA account... joined the "Bumper Bowlers" team... served as a HS Confirmation volunteer... learned how to lay sod... developed my passion for sunflowers... suffered with Sondra over the loss of her baby Tyler... worried about Ali and also Margo's in-laws during Turkey's earthquake disasters (all were fine and far enough away)... painted my Sally (same 1964 Phoenician Yellow color)... traveled to FL (visited Angie and Bobby in their new home), Chicago (celebrated Jenn's 30th bday), Keystone, CO (visited Linda at her gorgeous condo), Nashville, TN (for work, got to stay in the Grand Ole Opry Hotel), New Orleans (visited Yarabes in Baton Rouge), Evansville (several times including July trip bring Mark east of the Mississippi for the first time) and of course the int'l vacation to Turkey, the Greek island Rhodes, Munich (with Mark and Dad to visit Ali)... bought my first stock directly (Intel, good deal)... celebrated many a girlfriends' pregnancies (Debbie, Angie, Helen, Wendy, Sonja, Margo, Julie A., Jeana, Pam)... prepared for my baby sister's wedding in June 2000... started taking guitar lessons from Mark... hosted a GameShow 2000 New Year's Eve party for friends and got to ring in the new year with Mark in his Pat Sajak/Richard Dawson/Alex Trabek mode.

What a way to end the century. I am counting my blessings and looking forward to what the new year 2000 holds. I hope you are too.
