This recipe was given to me by Tim Lacey - he was the food service director for the Logan Hocking School District for several years. He is from Cincinnati and his GrandMother gave this recipe to him.
1 quart water, cold
2 lb. ground beef
1 Tables. ground cumin
2 large onions, chopped fine
1 teasp. worchestershire sauce
1 teasp. black pepper
1\2 teasp. garlic powder
1 Tables. salt
1\2 teasp. red pepper
6 oz. tomato paste
1 1\2 Tables. vinegar
1 1\2 teasp. ground allspice
3 bay leaves
2 Tables. chili powder
Crumble ground beef into cold water (Do not brown first)
Add all the ingredients & bring
to a boil, cover and simmer for 3 hours.
Stir occasionally.
Is good served over Spaghetti
I added the following ingredients-but they were not in the original recipe.
1 small green pepper-chopped
1 small hot pepper
1 sweet pepper
1 -15 oz. can tomato sauce
1 -15 oz. can stewed tomatoes
