Ian's Fish Story
by Ian S., 5 years old from Alberta Canada

I went fishing and Daddy didn't catch a fish. Uncle Ian did. We caught frogs at Sarah's. Courtney found a bright green daddy frog and a mommy frog. I found a worm and he was just moving his head, side to side, and up and down. Kristen caught a sister frog. Mommy frog had lots of kids, one hundred and forty nine of them. Some were little, some were big. Then we saw a daddy Robin and he ate all the frogs up.

My Favorite Holiday
by Ian S., 5 years old from Alberta Canada

I went to Uncle Ian's house. I played a game. We had a water fight and I got Uncle Ian in the back with some ice. He sprayed me, Courtney and Kristen with the hose. Then we watched a jungle movie. Uncle Ian took me and my Daddy to the candy store and bought candy for Courtney, Kristen and me. I got gummy bears. Then we went to the store and bought me some trucks.
("Mommy, we gonna go to Uncle Ian's again?")

Cats
by Kristyn L., 8 years old from Michigan, U.S.A.

If I were an animal I would be a cat because all cats do is sleep, and eat. These are my favorite things to do as well.

Cats are always happy and purr a lot. I am happy too!

I have a black cat and I love my fat, black cat.

A Poem
by Angela F., 7 years old from Colorado, U.S.A.

In my window
I see a rainbow
In a pot of gold.

I see a blue bird
That lands on my finger and
Gives me a piece
Of shining silver gold.

It flies away
Into my shadow.
I say, "Good Bye" and
I cry into my hand.

I fall upon
the one I see,
Who is in love with me.

My First Day at School
by Toni B., from Saskatchewan, Canada

I can't wait, it is two more sleeps until my first day at school. I am so excited. I get to ride the big yellow bus with all my friends and pals. I hope I don't trip getting on.

I just can't wait to use my new crayons and pencils that my mom bought me. I will draw a picture of my family.

I'll take my lunch in my shiny new lunch kit. I love peanut butter and jam, and mom says I have to eat an apple too. Maybe I can trade it for something Suzy has.

I am going to play on the monkey bars and the swings. I don't want to fall. School will be so much fun!

But for now, I have to go to bed, but when I wake up, there will only be one sleep left till school starts.
