I am just as much a child's advocate as I am a caregiver, teacher, or parent. To this end I have been caring and advocating for children since I was a child.
As and adult, I have been involved, in the child care field for the past twenty plus years, both on a volunteer as well as a professional basis. My volunteer work was provided through the community and in the school system. Professionally I have ran my own day home, provided care for preschool children in a large daycare setting and provided nanny services in other people's homes.
I have been involved in Early Childhood Development classes. As well, I personally research the subject of children, their needs and positive development from a variety of different avenues. These avenues include personal experience, utilizing the resources from the internet and the library, as well as discussion in groups and one on one.
I am retired now, but the passion I feel for the right of every child to feel valued, nurtured, and loved is still very much a part of my life. It is my contention that there are only two different kinds of human beings on this earth-Children and Adults. These two intrinsically different beings experience and interpret the same environment, from fundamentally different points of view. These differences transcends age, gender, ethnic, political, and religious persuasions.
