State of New York Fisheries Game & Forest Commission 1897

This was the second report issued by the State of New York's Forest Fish And Game Commision and was only presented to selected few important persons of the time (Senators and the like) so they are very scarce. This particular issue is an actually "Assembly Document" probally even rarer than the normal issues. It contains eleven signed full color plates by Denton and three fantastic signed plates by Ridgway. Two are shown below, and the rest are availble for viewing here "Denton & Ridgway Prints". They are as follows:
Denton's (1) OYSTERS, NATURAL SIZE, (2)MALE SUNAPEE TROUT, (3) FEMALE SUNAPEE TROUT, (4) MALE BROOK TROUT, (5)FEMALE BROOK TROUT, (6) ENEMIES OF THE OYSTER,(7)THE PIKE PERCH,(8)ADIRONDACK FROST FISH,(9)MALE LANDLOCKED SALMON,(10)FEMALE LAND LOCKED SALMON, (11) LAKE TROUT And Ridgway's (1) RUFFLED GROUSE, (2) QUAIL, AND (3) WOODCOCK
All of the plates are full page, single sided and intact in the book as issued. The condition of the book itself such is not the best. The cover is almost off and the first few pages are loose. But all the contents are present and accounted for. Fascinating sections on the history of fish culture, winged enemies of fish, fisheries of Lake Ontario, fishways, The Wood-Duck, Wilson's Snipe, Forestry articles, etc., etc. This book is filled with information, great photos and illustrations of New York State hunting, fishing, game, fish, and birds. Buyer to pay $9.00 for shipping and insurance (large book). Out of U.S. buyers will be more.
