Iola Akeman
Iola Akeman,
95, Robinson, died Monday, September 15, 1997, at her residence of an apparent
heart attack.
Born January
22, 1902 in the Annapolis vicinity of Crawford County, she was the daughter
of Abraham Lingafelter and Clara (Keenan) Lingafelter. She was a
homemaker. She was a member of the Robinson Church of Christ, charter
member of Crawford County Farm Bureau, Crawford County 4-H Leader, Home
Bureau member, and a Porterville Grange member.
She married
Carl B. Akeman on December 10, 1921, who preceded her in death on November
12, 1978. Also preceding her in death were four brothers, James,
Bruce, George and Basil Lingafelter; and nine sisters, Elizabeth Sellars,
Luella Bollinger, Annetta Nash, Eva Lingafelter, Roxanna McDaniels, Ima
Sellers, Irma Tyhurst, Alice Lionberger and Belva Richards.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris
Day, Evansville, Ind.; two grandsons and their wives, Jeffrey and Linda
Day, Evansville, Ind., and Larry and Alma Day, Bellmont, Mo.; three great-grandchildren,
Deborah Wandtke, Evansville, Ind., Bradley Scott Day, Evansville, Ind.,
and Karen Sue Day, Clovis, N.M.; a great-great grandchild, Tyler Jeffrey
Wandtke, Evansville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral
was 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson,
with Bro. Raymond Warfel officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, rural Annapolis.
