Most people believe John Leonhart Trautmann (1710 Germany d. about 1767) who arrived in Phillidelphia, Pennsylvania aboard the Neptune in 1751 to be the father of John Michael.

Military: John Michael vistied Kentucky in 1780 and served with Gen. George Rogers Clark 1780 expidition against the Shawnees. He was a Captain in the Maryland militia and a Veteran of the Revoluntionary War.

Ida Mae and Bessie Louise were killed by Train number 11 at the Big 4 railroad crossing in Loxa, Illinois. They were seeing off a cousin when they were struck. On their tombstone is the following inscription:

Ida Mae and Bessie Louise were killed by Train number 11 at the Big 4 railroad crossing in Loxa, Illinois. They were seeing off a cousin when they were struck. On their tombstone is the following inscription:
Two precious ones from us have gone
Two voices we loved are stilled
There are vacanicies in our home
Which never can be filled

John was a retired member of the Mattoon Memorial Hospital maintenance department. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
