Violet J. Fouty, Oblong, dies; rites Friday
Violet J. Fouty,
78, 303 S. Grant, Oblong, died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday at Richland Memorial
Hospital, Olney.
She was born in
Garfield, Okla, the daughter of A.L. and Stella Duryea Gray. Mrs.
Fouty and her husband, J. Lester Fouty, whom she married May 22, 1916,
in Hooker, Okla., formerly operated the Fouty Shelter Care Home for many
years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 548 and
a member of the First Baptist Church.
Besides her husband,
Mrs. Fouty is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn A. and Eula
Mae Fouty, Robinson; two daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Lona) Bliss, Barn Hill,
and Mrs. Michael (Jennie Ellen) Mattingly, Oblong; four sisters, Valnay
Sheldon, Kansas City Kans., and Flora Mitchell, Beulah Jackson, and Dorothy
Jackson, all of Medford, Ore; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son in infancy.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, with Rev.
Gerald B. Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery,
with visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
