1. John Justice Fouty. Born on Apr 4, 1813 in Maryland. John Justice died in Jasper County, Illinois on Oct 27, 1897, he was 84. Buried in McFadden Cemetery, Grandville Township, Jasper County, Illinois. Was on the census for Addison Township, Shelby County, Indiana on Nov 11, 1850. Occupation: 1850, Farmer.
John and his first wife Jane Callahan and their family came from West Virginia to Indiana between 1848 and 1852. Jane died while they were in Indiana. John and his children left Indiana after Jane's death and settled in Jasper County, Illinois. He soon remarried Amy Shadley, aunt of Calvin Spencer. John was known in that vicinity as a great aid in the relief in sickness among stock ar as we might say - a home stock doctor. Many to the sick lend a helping hand to those in need. Although none of this large family were enlisted in the Civil War, they served their country as best they could by raising food to feed the soldiers, as well as to feed those who were at home. After Amy's death, John made his home with his daughter Hannah Hampsten until his death at the age of 81.
On Dec 25, 1837 when John Justice was 24, he first married Jane Callahan, in Virginia. Born between 1815 and 1818 in Virginia. Jane died in Shelby County, Indiana on May 11, 1853, she was 38. 6.Peter Provience Fouty. Born in Oct 1871 in Jasper County, Illinois. Peter Provience died in Olney, Richland County, Illinois on Jul 24, 1920, he was 48. Buried in McFadden Cemetery, Grandville Township, Jasper County, Illinois.
Peter was fatally injured at Willow Hill Illinois by a grain separator (thrashing machine) as he was working for Bill Immel, helping to unload the machine off a railroad flat car. It fell and rolled over him. He was taken from there to his home in Yale where a doctor examined him. He was sent from there to the hospital at Olney where he died a few days later. Rosella received no compensation.
On Nov 22, 1896 when Peter Provience was 25, he married Rosella Lake, daughter of Henry Lake (Nov 4, 1843-Jun 12, 1899) & Rosaltha A. Hickox (abt 1845-Sep 1876), in Jasper County, Illinois. Born on Aug 19, 1876 in Crawford County, Illinois. Rosella died in Jasper County, Illinois on May 17, 1924, she was 47. Buried in McFadden Cemetery, Grandville Township, Jasper County, Illinois. Was on the census in 1880.
Medical: Rosella died after five days of permicious vomitting.
Rosella was about a month old when her mother died. She was raised by her Grandmother Mahala and Chris Hampsten. In the 1880 Illinois census she is listed with Chris Hampsten as his granddaughter, age 3. Rosella is said to have been able sometimes to touch people and they would be cured of a problem, such as a nose bleed.

Rosella and Peter were married at Chris Hampsten's.
Peter was a laborer. They farmed near Palmersburg in Jasper County, Illinois.
They are in the 1900 and 1910 census in Jasper County, Illinois. Their
home was just east of the North Folk River. Mary and Fremont died while
they lived here. Finally the house burned and they lost everything. They
moved to a 3-room house in Yale. Their last baby was born here but lived
only a few minutes and died of sinesosis.
There are 5 graves at McFadden marked with
one stone "Peter Fouty Family" -- presumabley Rosella, Peter and three
of their children: Fremont, Mary and the infant.

On Jul 10, 1897 when Bertha Ellen was 16, she married Daniel Christian Hampsten, son of Henry (NMN) Hampsten (Mar 5, 1844-Mar 15, 1915) & Jane Catherine "Catherine" Snyder (Jun 14, 1848-Jan 15, 1878), in Jasper County, Illinois. Born on Jun 18, 1872 in Winfield, Kansas. Daniel Christian died in Hooker, Texas County, Oklahoma on Oct 26, 1953, he was 81. Buried in Hooker Cemetery, Hooker, Texas County, Oklahoma.
The family moved west to Oklahoma Territory in 1905 where they homesteaded northwest of Hooker. Bertha's parents and sister Lettie and her husband Ira Hickox also went. These families were members of the Church of Christ. In Hooker they met in their homes for Bible study and Sunday communion services. Thus the Church of Christ in Hooker was begun. About 1913 they began meeting in the Prairie Queen schoolhouse. Gospel meetings were held in the Lemon schoolhouse. As more members settled in the Prairie Rose communtiy, that schoolhouse became the meeting place for many years. Eventually the growing congregation moved back to Hooker. The first church building was located at the corner of California and Madison on lots given by Daniel Hampsten. The congregation has continued to grow and now has new facilities located on this land.

This family moved west to Oklahoma Territory
in 1905 where they homesteaded northwest of Hooker. Bertha's parents and
sister Lettie and her husband Ira Hickox also went.
These families were members of the Church
of Christ. In Hooker they met in their homes for Bible study and Sunday

On Nov 25, 1899 when Lettie Olive was 16, she married Ira James Hickox, son of James William Hickox (1847-1887) & Manda "Mandy" Snyder (1843-Nov 1879), in Jasper County, Illinois. Born on Jun 25, 1878 in Jasper County, Illinois. Ira James died in Liberal, Seward County, Kansas on Jun 6, 1955, he was 76. Buried in Hooker Cemetery, Hooker, Texas County, Oklahoma. Occupation: Councilman, Mayor and Farmer. Religion: Church of Christ.
Military: He served in the Spanish American War -- IL 45th Vol. Co B in June 1898 in Effingham County, Illinois.
He emigrated in December 1905 to Hooker, Texas County, Oklahoma where he served as a City Counsilman before 1931 and served as Mayor between 1931 and 1935. He was a farmer in Crawford County, Illinois before he emigrated to Oklahoma. He was a member of the Church of Christ Church. He was Spanish American.
