Yahoo 360 Simple URLs don't like UPPER case letters!

NOTE from 7/1/2005 - This upper case problem bas been fixed.

My old Blast entry...

Thanks to Mr.E, I know why my simple Yahoo 360 URL wouldn't work. This account (circa 1997) includes UPPER case letters, thus confusing the Yahoo 360 beta servers.

For now, this URL - http://360.yahoo.com/greaterbeloit - works as my Y!360 simple URL.

BTW... this Yahoo! account/login is so old it pre-dates the time when Yahoo! required you to have a secret question and answer associated with the ID.  So were I to lose or forget my password, this account has no such thing as a secret Q&A prompt to help me retrieve it!  Think about that for more than a second and you might realize why I LIKE IT THAT WAY

The Secret Q&A represents an additional account vulnerability because...

  • IF you know my ID, my birthdate, and my ZIP code, you can get access to the page which prompts for the answer to the account's secret question.
  • IF I chose a poor secret Q & A, and you know or can guess it, you can reset my password and gain access to my account.
  • IF I was so foolish as to set up no alternate email address (non-Yahoo mail - you can have up to 6)  associated with this account, then I wouldn't even know it was changed until I tried to login! (If there is a verified alternate email, it would receive an email notice of the change and that notice would include the IP address of whatever PC requested the new password.)
