Anyone remember Descent?

Specifically, the screen shot above is from Descent 2. I forgot how much fun Descent was/is... esp. now with a very fast PC relative to the 1996 system requirements of D2!  I even got the original DOS-based Descent to play, but the sound would not work at all on my P4 -

- so I gave up.

It was a trick getting D2 to play under WinXP, but it works - including sound! OK, at only one resolution. It works at other resolutions, but has a nasty nausea inducing 'bounce' to the screen. The trick was to create a folder under the c:\games\descent2\ folder in order to install D2's Win95 patch.  Allowing the patch.exe program to run from another area of the HD yielded errors.  (I assume the patches don't like or understand WinXP or NTFS?)  Once installed, run it under Win95 compatibility mode and - voila! - it works great!

Now... to go shoot me some robots!
