Something wonderful on the Rock River?

Or at the very least really cool... We're going to try and make this famous painting by George Seurat come to life on the banks of the Rock River in Beloit Saturday, July 1st at 3:00 pm. (The rain date is Sunday, July 2.)
 Email has gone out asking for volunteers from the Friends of Riverfront group to help stage the scene. I'd also like to see other photographers - the more the merrier - help photograph it so we have a better chance of successfully capturing the scene. This will be a 'modern' scene, so wear normal stuff. It'd be nice to see some of reds and browns and dark tops as seen above. I have no idea if this will work and I'm not sure I have enough camera to pull this off, but we're going to try and make it happen. |

For some reason, I look at Seurat's painting and think we need Jennifer Lopez with an umbrella on the far right. What'cha think?

Looks like you got the backdrop right, are you doing it in costume? I want to see the results.. sounds like a great project....
They have this picture done in tree sculpture in Columbus, OH in one of the victorian gardens...

Hey, I am sorry I have not come to your blog in a while, oh yeah Beloit, WI and forth of july!! What a blast, and the lake front too! I remember going to the lake front and building sand huts for the fireworks show..Enjoy my friend, wish I was there for it. Oh well..have a great weekend! Hugs to ya!!

Mark, I'm with Cher. I think this is a terrific idea. Used to work in downtown Columbus & spent many lunch hours hanging out with the topiary she mentioned. Next time I'm there, I'll try to get a picture for you. The sight looks perfect. btw-- thanks so much for the tip about a nearby campground. We made reservations today. ciao
