Internet Exploder 7 Problems and Yahoo 360 etc.
photo

Above is screen shot of 360 compose blog editor page as I see it in IE7. It's broken. Notice how the WYSIWYG editor makes no appearance for me at all and there is no HTML box and Polls are open by default.

Other parts of 360 are broken also... I get no action while clicking on the Profile Photos on a 360 page. There is some script function that is not operating for me here. (But everything works at other place's pages!)

I have problems with other Yahoo pages. My Yahoo no longer allows me to change to my other My Yahoo pages or pop-up information summaries on the content in the news feeds. On Yahoo Mail, the Delete, Move, Copy buttons don't work, but the Spam button does.

Addendum: Re-installed IE7 and same problems return. Confirmed problem is on this local PC and on THIS particular login to it. On mMy Admin login and wife's login, IE7 and all the scripts appear to work just fine and look normal.

BTW... I manually removed all the IE temp files and cookies for THIS login from the Admin login. Problem remained.

Clearly... this is NOT Yahoo related... or at least it doesn't appear to be.

I did manage to fix my Flash9 install problem. I just logged off and the logged in to my Windows Admin login, ran a page with Flash in it and it ran fine. Then switched back to this Windows login and... POOF! ...it worked for me on this login. Now... I've got to track down just how my IE settings/registry values for THIS Windows user differ from the other two Windows users. Fun, fun. Joy, joy.

Hi oldtimer. I have had this issue on one pc and not another. IE7 works well for me so far. I suspect another underlying issue, such as spyware or malware, or an error in your registry. You are welcome to email me if you need clarity.

Thanks, Cashie. My PC boots in 30 seconds. I have no errors and no spyware/adware/malware.

These problems exist only on Yahoo pages. All other sites appear to function normally.

Baring further confirmation from other parties, I will continue to investigate and consider this a problem with this local PC.

Next step... examining plug-ins. After that... remove and re-install IE7.

You did note that I do not use Yahoo's version of IE7 nor do I have any Yahoo/SBC/ATT crapware on my PC.

I havent switched too IE7 yet doesn't look like I'm going too in the near future either
Oh and I know you have allready done this but you have cleaned the temp files and cache ?? Sorry but it is the first thing I think of
The problem is Yahoo its full of bugs, cookies and popups that you don't see, my popup blocker goes off 7 times on every 360 page

Yes, many times cleaned, many times over. I only run a 100 meg cache (and that used to be 50 meg).

I even renamed my HOSTS file (which I use to block advertising and other malicious domains) and ran without it. I put Yahoo in my Trusted sites list. I turned off my CA's ETrust EZAV program (and that's the ONLY active real-time security software running on this PC). Just for giggles, I turned off WinXP's firewall (I'm behind a router). All was to no avail.

And... furthermore... Yahoo services (Mail, MY, 360, Photos) are the only sites exhibiting these problems and in ALL cases, when the problem is encountered the page reports some kind of error

---> "YAHOO' is undefined <---

That's an exact quote including the " and ' on either side of the word YAHOO.

Can you uninstall IE7 and go back too IE6 ?

Other than that it will be something simple, I know what thats like allways a single check box (somewhere in Internet options)that is the cause of the prob
Its going too frustrate you till you can fix it I know but theres allways Firefox and you can allways ask Yahoo they "should" know how too fix it
IE7 is soppossed to work well with Yahoo too, I'd go back too 6 if it did that too me .. too frustrating

Yes, you can uninstall IE7. I just did that, going back to IE6 and all is well again. Now I just gotta re-customize it a little.

Yes, I use Firefox about 1/2 the time, but I use Firefox with my other Yahoo ID (the AT&T login). I find it convenient to have multiple browsers so I can open and use different logins. (I esp. hate IE and AT&T/SBC - Firefox seems to deal with their crap better.)

[I wonder how many people know you don't even need the SBC/ATT crapware that goes the ISP forces down the customer's throat.]

Did I mention that my PC boots to a fully usable, fully connected WinXP desktop in 30 seconds?

I have had such bad problems that I'm using the old browser. It was so bad that I could not open my 360 page or mail from my messenger window. Then it went to my quick launch.I did load Fire Fox and ended up really having more problems. One fatal error after another.I reloaded my OS and I have had less problems but I still have a few here and there.

yesterday when I went to post on my private blog it did exactly the same thing too me as its been doing too you
even though the other accounts have been fine, with that ID I had too clear cache, cookies and history too get the WYSIWYG editor too work. It wouldn't let me edit tags either came up with a yellow 'server down' error
Same computer as the other ID's on IE6
If you look at the 360 product blog a LOT are having the same problems odds on 99.9% of them have never cleaned the cache
I really do think it's Yahoo you where having the same problem on all of your ID's ? Or just the one
(You must have another 360 surely) I don't know if you use messenger or not but YMSG8 gives you a 360 when you login if you've logged in too messenger you have one!

No, actually, I don't have another account with a 360 page. I barely have time to manage one 360, let alone two.

I am reporting WINDOWS user logins, NOT Yahoo. If I login to this PC on my wife's user or my Admin user, I have NO PROBLEMS with this same Yahoo ID/login/360 page.

And, of course, I've been working with PCs since 80's so I know 6 different ways to clean my cache and cookies and so on. As I mentioned, I am running no 3rd party crapware and I don't do IM of any kind. I even removed IM client that comes with Windows (MSN Messenger?).

No... given enough time, I'll track down the registry differences between this Windows user and the others. Since this is my main Windows user, it's probably some hack I did long ago to block an unpatched security hole; something not affecting IE6, but now coming back to haunt me after the IE7 upgrade.

All that said however, I still think there's some bad code in Yahoo land exacerbating things.

BTW ... discovered today that Flickr MAPS doesn't work, and Yahoo Maps BETA don't work... but Google and MS LIVE do.

Is it me or is it Yahoo? Probably both.
