The land on which Nicholas II lived eventually became part of Albemarle County and this is the county in which he died and his will probated.
He grew up and lived out his life as a farmer interested in his crops, flocks and herds in the same environment and style as his father, that of a land and slave owner
Nicholas first married Mary Brooks in or before 1722, the year their first child was born. Mary died in 1728 leaving 4 small children.

In his will, Nicholas II pointedly expressed desire that these four children receive nothing from the estate. Why this was is pure speculation, but possibly their inheritence of his estate may have passed to them from their mothers will.

Nicholas II's sons remained in Virginia except for David and Martin who went to Madison Co., Kentucky and Robert who went to East Tennessee. |
