Words for the Soul...page 2
People who matter most are most aware that everyone else does, too.
Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.
Things do not change. We change.
The turning point in the process of growing up is when you discover the core strength within you that survives all hurt.
If we want to change a situation, we first have to change ourselves. And to change ourselves effectively, we have to change our perceptions.
The unexamined life is not worth living.
The less you open your heart to others, the more your heart suffers.
The only way to have a friend is to be one.
Those who don't know how to weep with their whole heart don't know how to laugh either.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.
You can accomplish by kindness what you cannot do by force.
Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
Anyone can count the number of seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.
Humans are powerful spiritual beings meant to create good on earth. This good isn't usually accomplished in bold actions, but in singular acts of kindness between people. It's the little things that count because they a re more spontaneous and show who you really are.
How I feel about and behave toward myself is the basic determinant of most of my behaviour. If I improve my self-regard, I will find that dozens of behaviours change automatically.
A mother has far greater influence on her children than anyone else, and she must realize that every word she speaks, every act, every response, her attitude, even her appearance and manner of dress affect the lives of her children and the whole family. It is while the child is in the home that he gains from his mother the attitudes, hopes and beliefs that will determine
the kind of life he will live and the contributions he will make to
society.
Reputation is who you are in the light....character is who you are in the dark.
You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
Let ever ything you do be done as if it makes a difference. It does.
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
The good man does not grieve that other people do not recognize his merits. His only anxiety is lest he should fail to recognize theirs.
Integrity is not a 90% thing. Either you have it...or you don't.

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaning a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats with your head held up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you can endure...and that you really are strong and you really do have worth.

Be grateful for the skies of blue that smile from day to day;
Be grateful for the health you own, the work you find to do,
For round about you there are men less fortunate than you.
Be grateful for the growing trees, the roses soon to bloom,
The tenderness of kindly hearts that shared your days of gloom;
Be grateful for the morning dew, the grass beneath your feet,
The soft caresses of your babes and all their laughter sweet.
Acquire the grateful habit, learn to see how blest you are,
How much there is to gladden life, how little life to mar!
And what if rain shall fall to-day and you with grief are sad;
Be grateful that you can recall the joys that you have had.
