Words for the Soul...page 3
Do you think for a moment that Heavenly Father would have sent one of His
children to the earth by accident, without the possibility of a significant
work to perform?...You are preserved to come to the earth in this time for a special purpose. Not
just a few of you, but all of you. There are things for each of you to do that
no one else can do as well as you...
Often you will not feel the Spirit even when you are trying very hard to be near the Lord. The Lord
is letting you grow in making decisions based on your knowledge of righteous principles. He is also
letting you prove to yourself that you will keep his commandments when you don't feel his nearness.
If you always felt inspired, you as a son or daughter could not and would not really grow. Spiritual growth
comes as you seek his inspiration, his closeness, and his peace. Even Jesus felt the absence of the Spirit
at times. This is why he cried out 'My God, my god, why hast thou forsaken me? as he hung on the cross.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have
got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as
possible before handing down to future generations.
Character is defined by what we are willing to do when the spotlight has been turned off,
when the applause has died down, and no one is around to give us credit.
A ship in a harbor is safe, but that is not what ships were built for.

Join the great company of those who make the barren places of life fruitful with kindness.
Adversity reveals genius, prosperity conceals it.
The opposite of love is not hate but indifference.
Make Sure the path for your own feet to walk to eternal life, and take as
many with you as you can. Take them as they are, understand them as they
are, and deal with them as they are; look at them as God looks at them.
I will keep the law given by God; sanctioned by man. I will hold to
the principles received by me when I was sane, and not mad -- as I am
now. Laws and principles are not for times when there is no
temptation; they are for such moments as this, when body and soul rise
in mutiny against their rigour; stringent they are; inviolate they shall
be. If at my individual convenience I might break them, what would be
their worth? They have a worth -- so I have always believed; and if I
cannot believe it now, it is because I am insane... with my heart
beating faster than I can count its throbs. Preconceived notions,
forgone determinations are all I have at this hour to stand by.
Any word which cannot be spoken in the name of Christ should be left
unspoken, any deed that can not properly bear our Lord’s name should be left undone.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you never walk alone.
