Persons Name The Family Story
My BUTLER Family Beginnings The Beginnings of the Butler kinspeople is debated. Some believe that the Mulattoe families related to me may go back to an Eleanore "Irish Nell" Butler {free white woman} and her slave husband. Others believe that my Butler families are descended from a totally different Butler family. But, the final proof is still pending.
My HARLEY Family Beginnings The Harley family has its known Mulatto start with Henry Harley listed in the Charles County, Maryland 1790 census as a free mulatto. Henry's wife is presently unknown. Henry's children are 1. James 1800 who was married 3 times > 2. John Harley born circa 1790's or 1810 {census records varie}. John married Clementina Christina Proctor in 1822. > 3. Smitty Harley born 1810's and his wife first names was "Elizabeth". > 4. Elizabeth who is stated to have married a Mr. Hughes but proof is pendng. > 5. Richard whose spouse is unknown but listed in the Prince Georges late 19th century records.
My NEWMAN Family beginnings The Newman Family is documented in Charles County, Maryland court records. Maria Newman {a servant } gave birth to an illegitimate child named William Newman in 1755 circa February. Maria was sentenced convicted in Middlesex, England court on Felony charges in 1752. She was transported to Maryland in August of 1752. She becamed the indentured servant of Mr. Mac Atee. He was the gentleman who paid her fines for having a Mulatto child out of wedlock in 1755. Maria's son William married Martha{surname is unknown}. Their son John was born in 1795 and baptized in Bryantown's St. Mary's Catholic church. John married Ann Proctor in 1814. The Majority of John and Ann's children possessed blonde hair. A photo of their daughter "Phoebe Newman - Butler" shows that she possessed a darker hair color.
My PROCTOR Family beginnings The Earliest Proctors is believed to start with an Elizabeth Proctor. She was a servant woman who owned land near Mr. Boarman in Bryantown. Elizabeth was twice charged with having an illegitimate child in the 1700's. One of the sons "Charles Proctor" is believed to be the ancestor of the present day Proctor and their kinspeople of Southern Maryland. My known Proctor ancestors: 1. Isaac Proctor was born circa 1762 and he married in 1794 to Elizabeth Butler born 1763. Charles "Fiddler" Proctor born 1820's was believed to be a son of Robert Proctor born circa 1790's.
My SWANN Family Beginnings The Swann family beginnings for my family traces back to Henry Swann born circa 1815. He belived to be of kinship to Sarah Swann convicted of Bastardy in Charles County Court in 1707, 1714, and 1718. Grandpa Henry Swann may be of kinship of Henrietta Swann who was charged with Bastardy in Charles Court in 1771. Oral family history states that a lot of the Swanns were good at trapping, hunting, farming and the career of waterman.
My THOMPSON Family Beginnings My Thompson family has its acknowledged beginnings in the 1790's. The known senior Thompson's of 1790's were Henry Thompson, Alexander Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Joseph Thompson and William Thompson. Thomas Thompson is believed to be the father of Grandpa William Henry "Kell" Thompson born 1820 and his siblings. Grandpa "Kell's" mother was Elsie. Some of the branches of Thompson kinspeople were known for their slim or skinny body frame.<>
