The Charter of Wattle Women has come about from a need for Australian women to connect with others on the World Wide Web. There are many wonderful groups about but none that are based in Australia. This made any participation in reunions or snail mail activities very expensive so the concept of an Australian group was “hatched”. Who knows maybe in the future we might expand to include all the corners of the globe but there will always be the founding Australian chapter.
Wattle Women can be a wonderful support and networking tool for it’s members to divide problems, share joys, help those who need encouragement & hopefully make some lifelong friends & support some causes along the way!
A few guidelines have been put forth in this Charter and it is expected that every member will read, uphold & honor them.
Any women can be a member of Wattle Women (sorry guys!), although there is a minimum age limit of 18 years. You also must agree with the charter and creed.
If you have a website, it cannot contain any illegal or pornographic material on it. You can still become a member of Wattle Women even if you don’t have a website. You will just be listed by email address.
When you submit your request to join Wattle Women, your website is reviewed & you will be notified of your acceptance by email with a welcome letter. This letter will outline all the information you’ll need. Your name, email address, URL address and ICQ number (if applicable) will be added to the Member’s page (which is password protected).
If you have no website then you’ll need a current member to “sponsor” you & they can submit their recommendation to add you to the Membership.
It’s obvious that fair, just & loving behaviour is the only behaviour tolerated in Wattle Women. However in the event of problems, a Grievance Committee has been formed to bring the complaint to. They will review it and responded to as quickly as possible to try and resolve the particular complaint. This is handled quietly, between the involved parties only.
Every six months Wattle Women hold a census. You only need respond to the email to remain a member but not responding means you will be deleted from our lists. This is because we prefer a small group of active members rather than a world record breaking amount of inactive members! So please don't be offended if and when you receive this email... you've been warned!!
Please feel free to submit suggestions or ideas you may have to help make Wattle Women better for everyone. Email your ideas and we will consider them for inclusion. Please add whether you are willing to organise your suggestion as we need lots of help at this stage! Please visit the volunteers page as there are a few jobs up for grabs. Your feedback and participation are required and very much appreciated.
