Welcome to Calvin's Geneva - Switzerland | |

Okay, so I really haven't been far from Geneva, one trip to Zurich is all... Back to the top |
I only stayed for about 20 hours in Zurich, just came into the train station, hopped to my hotel, the Pension St. Josef (highly recommended Zurich # 251 27 57 - inexpensive and very friendly with a great morning brunch) then in the morning to the airport and back to Geneva! I did get a chance to run around the downtown for a while... it is more physically open than Geneva with larger stores, but doesn't have the charm of Geneva (in my opinion). They do however, have these cows all over the place. I can't explain it. Artists have painted them in various patterns (a Harley Davidson, a mercator projection, an American flag...) and placed them all over the downtown. I'm not kidding... there are hundreds of these life-size cows there! These two are outside of a department store... one has a see-through stomach, the other painted like a zebra.
Taking the train from Geneva I sat on the wrong side, so I missed a lot of the best scenery between Geneva and Lausanne, along Lac Geneve. So, on the way back, I tried a few shots with the camera set up against the window... they came out okay, I guess, for travelling 100 km/h through a smudgy window (that's not a statement against the Swiss Railway system... it was impeccably clean and consistently on-time). So, these are approaching Lausanne from Fribourg - there are no large versions, so you can't click on them. |
