Thomas Robbins, Sr.
The first generation
T
HOMAS ROBBINS, SR. was born Abt. 1655, and died Abt. 1725 in Westmoreland County, Yorktown, VA.We know that he married Isabella Bailey because she was named in her father’s will with "Thomas Robbins, my son in law."
Most of what I know about Thomas and Isabella and their two sons, Thomas, Jr., and John, came from the extensive research and presumptions in the book "The Robbins Family from Virginia to Texas" by Gladys Robbins Guins Wrenn who lives in Cleveland Texas. She has disproved the identification of many Thomas Robinses in colonial Virginia including, thus far, any connection with the Accomack County Robbinses. It has been suggested by other researchers that our Thomas Robbins Sr. was the son of Dr. Thomas Clayborn Robbins, on of the descendants of Col. Obedience Robbins from the eastern shore of Virginia; however, there is no documentation to validate this statement.
Children of T
HOMAS ROBBINS and ISABELLA BAILEY are:
T
HOMAS ROBBINS, JR., b. Abt. 1695, Westmoreland County, Yorktown, VA; d. 1776, Edgecombe County, Toisnot Swamp Area, NC; m. SARAH MADDOX; d. 29-Apr-1809, Edgecombe County, Toisnot Swamp Area, NC.
J
OHN ROBBINS, SR., b. Abt. 1698, Westmoreland County, VA; m. UNKNOWN ROBBINS.There is no proof that John was the son of Thomas and Isabella Robbins; however, most researchers have both Thomas and John Robbins in the Toisnot Swamp area of Edgecombe County at about the same time, therefore assuming that they were brothers. .
