ROSIE
Hello, I’m Rosie, a petite, sweet and sort of shy 3-year-old Keeshond who was found running about the grounds of a sewer plant around Valentine’s Day. There was stuff there for me to eat and drink, even though it was yucky. But it was scary because all these people kept chasing me. Some were dog-lovers who wanted to turn me over to rescue, but others were dogcatchers. I couldn’t tell who was who, so I just kept running from everyone. After a few days, I got so exhausted I gave up. A man and woman put me in their car and drove me away. I was afraid they were taking me to the pound. But instead they gave me to my Foster Mom, who said she would keep me safe and take good care of me until she could find me the perfect home, where I would be loved and spoiled.
Well, I could hardly believe that such a place existed. I hadn’t had the greatest life. I was filthy and covered with ticks. I’d never been spayed and foster mom thinks nobody had ever trimmed my toenails. I also had a pretty bad limp on my front left leg.
Now I get good food, regular meals and clean water to drink. No more sewer plant discharge for me! I get baths and I have a safe place to live. I don’t have to stay in the yard unless I want to, and I certainly never run loose on the streets. Honestly, I was a little scared at first of all the new people in my life. But I’ve come to trust my foster mom. In fact, I adore her. I love to be in the same room, lying at her feet or giving her kisses. If you let me come to live with you, I promise to do the same.
I was found around the same time and in the same area as another keesie girl, Violet. She got adopted right away. I had to stay in foster care until my limp got better. The vet took x-rays of my legs and shoulders and I even went to an orthopedic specialist, who said he didn’t see anything bad. The vet thinks I tore a muscle or sprained my shoulder really bad while I was running from the dogcatchers. He said I’m OK now.
Even though my limp is gone, Foster Mom says she would prefer that I go to a non-athletic sort of home. I’d be the perfect dog to follow you around the garden or accompany you on your daily walk. But since Foster Mom isn’t sure what was wrong with my leg to begin with, she doesn’t think I should embark on a career as an agility dog. A nice soft spot on the sofa would suit me better.
Now Foster Mom wants to tell you some things about me.
Rosie is on the petite side, weighs about 30 pounds and has a great future as a lapdog. She is a bit shy around strangers at first, but warms up quickly. After you’ve earned her trust, you won’t find a more loyal or loving companion. Rosie gets along well with my other dogs and loves all the kids we’ve met so far. But she still wants to chase my cat, so probably should go to a feline-free home. Rosie is alert and barks at noises, and will make a great little watchdog.
She is spayed and up-to-date on her shots.
