Thunder

 

Hi my name is Thunder.  I am 4 ½ years old and I am really a sweetheart.  I am a recently neutered (9/11/00) male Kees weighing in at about 40 pounds.  I loooooove to give kisses.  When Susan and John picked me up from a shelter in Austin, TX I was very sweet and gave them thank you kisses allllllll the way home.  Susan just couldn’t believe that someone would take a boy as wonderful as me to the shelter.  I guess I’m kinda lucky they did.  I was all matted and had heartworms.  My foster Mommy says she doesn’t think I had ever been brushed and had probably been kept outside in the Texas heat all my life.  There were thorns and even a dead bug in my matted coat.  It was so badly matted that she had to shave me.  She says it was like skinning a fish cuz it all came off in sheets instead of tufts.  There was a lot of it.  I filled a whole leaf bag with my matted coat!  I was really silly looking for a while, but now my coat is coming in really fast.  Susan gives me baths and brushes me, even though my coat is not long yet, so I will be use to it and I am learning to enjoy it.  She cuts my nails, too.  I don’t really like that part, but I’m a good boy and just look the other way. I have been treated for the heartworms, too.  I am now heartworm free and on preventative.  The nice people at the shelter in Austin gave me my vaccinations and even microchipped me.  Before Susan and John picked me up, I didn’t know about treats or housetraining, or being in the house, or playing with other doggies.  Now I am housetrained (I learned really fast!), crate trained, know sit, and can catch a cookie tossed my way.  I get along swell with the other dogs and the cat here.  I am working on learning to play with toys.  I represented Keeshond Rescue at an event called Dog Day Afternoon in Dallas on 9/10/00.  How about that for rags to riches?  From death row to public events!  Susan said she wanted to take me because I have such a wonderful loving personality and am a good representation of the breed, even though I’m still growing hair).  I haven’t been photographed yet.  (Mom’s camera broke).  I will have a photo soon.
