An Angel Wrote (Authors unknown) Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head; To handle others, use your heart. Anger is only one letter short of danger. If someone betrays you once, it's his fault; If he betrays you twice, Its your fault. Great minds discuss idea's; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people. God gives evey bird it's food, But he does not throw it into it's nest. He who loses money, loses much; He who loses a friend, loses more; He who loses faith, loses all. Beautiful young people are acts of nature, But beautiful old peoople Are works of art. Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself. The tongue weighs practically nothing But so few people can hold it. Friends, you and me. You brought another friend,,,,, Then there were 3... We started a group... Our circle of friends... And like that circle....There is no beginning or end... Catch a Rainbow If I could catch a rainbow I would do it just for you, And share with you it's beauty On the days you're feeling blue If I could build a mountain You could call your very own, A place to find serenity A place to be alone If I could take your troubles I would toss them in the sea But all these things I'm finding Are impossible for me I cannot build a mountain Or catch a rainbow fair But let me be what I know best, A friend that's always there. Author unknown THE FRIEND WHO STANDS BY When troubles come your soul to try You love the friend who just stands by Perhaps there's nothing he or she can do The thing is strictly up to you. For there are troubles all your own and paths the soul must tread alone times when love can't smooth the road nor friendship lift the heavy load. But just to feel you have a friend who will stand by until the end Whose sympathy through all endures whose warm handclasp is always yours. It helps somhow to pull you through Although there's nothing he or she can do. And so with fervent heart we cry " God bless the friend who just stands by". ROBIN MARIE SANDERSIN Online Friendship The true friends who we met online, Are a very special kind They pierce your shields and see within, The corners of your mind They're always there when you're in need With their power to discern They feel your pain.. they offer hope And genuine concern We bare our souls, expose our hearts And show our inner fears And then before you know it The keyboard's stained with tears And if we could see them through that screen Then no one could deny That to be a true online friend They too must surely cry. Author unknown My friend and Confidant, You are half the world away, And my today is your tomorrow, I have never seen your face, Nor heard words from your lips, I do not know your sounds of laughter, Or the softness of your sigh, I have not a clue as to who you are, Or the customs for which you live, I do know that you are kind and sweet, You are a thoughtful and caring soul, You think of others before yourself, ALL others, young and old. These things I know about you, Even though we have never met. I have learned this by coming home Each day and finding you here. You are not here in body and soul, But as a lighted rectangle. You come to me every day as A message on my screen, A message that I can rely on To cheer me up and make my day. Through the keyboarde we share Out ups and downs. I have opened my inner self to you, And you have to me aswell. We have traded secrets and laughs, As well as sorrows and pain. I have never met you, But feel as if I have known you for most of my lfe. To most this might sound silly, But I assure them, it is not. Even though we have never met, I feel a bond between us. A bond that should have taken years to build, Yet wa built in a month or two. A bond that lifelong friends should have, Alsthough most never do. A bond that I am glad to share with you- My friend and confidant. Poem by steven lowdermilk WE HAVE TWO CHOICES - A TRUE STORY Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jerry replied, "each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood! I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose for the positive side of life." "yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "yes it is,"jerry said. " life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: it's your choice how you live your life." I reflected on what Jerry said. soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I head that jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body. I saw Jerry about sic months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "if I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. " the first thing that went through my mind as the robbery took place. The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door" jerry replied. "then as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or choose to die. I chose to live. "weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Jerry continued, "the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergeny room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, he's a dead man. " I knew I needed to take action." "what did you do? I asked. "well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me, " said jerry. "she asked if I was allergic to anything. " yes" I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped woriking as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, Bullets!" Over their laughter, I told them, " I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead." Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that evry day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything. AUTHOR UNKNOWN |
