The beauty of home brew is, besides tasting so good, the cost of brewing your own can cost as little as thirteen cents for a stubby.
[A stubby in Australia is a 375ml bottle.]
The art of beer brewing dates back to pre history. The Egyptians were known to have had a type of beer many centuries ago.
There are many types of beer and nearly as many ways of brewing it.

On this page I shall try to impart to you some of the different ways.
The easiest way for beginners is to buy the commercial pack. In that you will receive everything you need to start you off.
A normal fermenting container is 23 liters and each brew gives you 60 stubbies. If you don't mind a little bit of sediment in the bottom, you are able to obtain up to 63 stubbies, or 31 x 750ml bottles.
For the person that likes to do some serious drinking, you will be able to do at least one batch a week and maybe squeeze in about five a month. That will give you 300 stubbies, or approximately TEN stubbies a day, at a cost of {if you buy the generic brands} ONE DOLLAR and TWENTY THREE CENTS or, EIGHT DOLLARS SIXTY per week.

PREPARATION

*****USING A BREWING KIT*****

The main thing to remember in home brewing,is to make sure everything you use is scrupulously clean and steralised. Boiling does not steralise completly and it is advisable to use a product made specially for brewing. You can purchase this from all major Super Markets and home brew shops.
Always.. make sure that you know where your bottles are obtained from.
Always.. make sure that there is no dirt or impurities in the bottle.
Always.. wash them with a steralising solution. It does not matter if there is a little of this solution left in the bottle, it will not make your beer taste funny or send it off.
Some brewers like to mix their brew in a container outside of the fermenting vessel. I have found that it is just as good to do it in the fermenter, as besides saving time, it also leaves you with less cleaning to do.
